Hi,

I've been following your work on the Matrix Awakens PC demo, particularly your efforts to update the City Sample to newer Unreal Engine versions with DLSS and other improvements.

I've been investigating the original PS5 release of The Matrix Awakens, with the goal of recovering content that wasn't included in Epic's publicly released City Sample project.

I've made some interesting progress:

  • PS5 asset indexing: We've generated a detailed inventory of the game's Unreal Engine IoStore assets from the original frosty-ps5.utoc archive.
  • Neo and Keanu Reeves: We've identified character assets associated with Andy (Neo/Thomas Anderson) and Kenny (Keanu Reeves), including potential meshes, textures, materials, and animation-related assets.
  • Original car-chase audio: We've located SoundWave assets associated with the cinematic car chase, including the Agent bullet-dodging effects, recursion variants, and other sound effects.
  • Python extraction tools: We've developed scripts to extract selected original asset packages from the PS5 .ucas archive while preserving the source files.

One possibility that occurred to me is whether these findings could help you reconstruct the original Matrix Awakens car-chase sequence inside your PC version.

Since you've already worked extensively with the City Sample project, you may be in a particularly good position to evaluate whether some of the original cinematic sequences, character assets, animations, and audio could be adapted to the PC build.

Of course, there are still significant technical challenges. We've identified the assets and developed extraction tools, but we haven't yet confirmed successful conversion of the original PS5 character meshes or audio into usable PC formats.

I'd be happy to share our asset index, Python scripts, and technical findings if you're interested.

I think it would be fascinating to see the original cinematic content running natively on PC with modern UE5 rendering, DLSS, and potentially higher resolutions and frame rates.

Thanks for all the work you've put into the project!

This is awesome!. Thanks for reaching out. We did dig about way, way back ago but parked it as not enough time. We are about to release v2 early access which is for the first time, a complete release with all the bells and whistles, 2nd release will have a new simulation mode based on Benchmarking.
If you could DM me on Discord that would be great :)
