Hi all! I'm looking for honest feedback on an early prototype:
Playtest: https://yashnirwan.itch.io/breadcrumbs
The idea: someone witnesses a murder in a rainy city at night. One player is the Witness trying to reach a cop, one is Him, the killer hunting the witness, and one is the Police, working from stale, blurry reports. Roles are dealt at random each night. Anything that helps the cop find you also helps him find you, like chalk marks or running footsteps.
My problem: it sounds fun on paper, but I'm not sure it is fun in practice. Most of my testing has been against the AI, and I suspect the game only comes alive against real people. That's what I need help finding out.
How to play it with humans:
- PLAY WITH FRIENDS gives you a room link. Send it to 1–2 people. Any empty seat is filled by AI.
- PLAY ONLINE matches you with whoever else is playing right now. If nobody turns up within 15 seconds, the AI fills in.
- Live session: I'll be on PLAY ONLINE at 4 PM EST. Jump in, and we'll fill the room.
What I'd love to know:
1. Is the core loop fun? Did a night ever feel tense, or does it play like a game of tag?
2. Challenge & payoff: Did winning feel earned, or like luck? Did losing feel fair?
3. "One more round"? Did you want to play again right away? If not, what stopped you?
4. Roles: which felt the easiest, and which the most boring? Was any role clearly better or worse than the others?
5. What's missing? If you could add or change one thing to make it more exciting, what would it be?
Please tell me which role(s) you played and whether the other players were people or AI. It changes how I read your answers.
It's rough around the edges (it's a prototype), so blunt feedback is very welcome. Happy to play your game in return. Drop a link below. Thanks!
