Oh my, the game got so much better after I read the description 🤦♀️ I liked it even before (I thought I was very bad at finding the exit), but now that I know what I missed... this is a great game. The art in general, the intro and the mysterious music, it all fits very well together, you made a great game... but it's hard. I failed so many times (especially before I read about the repell 🤪), I never reached lvl3. Great job
The menu was awesome! Very cool art. I think there are too many ghosts, or maybe they are too strong or fast. Also, the radar can benefit greatly from audio indication. This game has a lot of potential!
The menu, the intro comic, the music, everything builds towards the same vibe of being an explorer inside a temple. My only complain (and its a very small one) is that I wish the rooms were more irregular shaped and there was rubble all over the place, to really sell the ruins aspect.
Gameplay wise, great feedback on every mechanic. I think the radar could've used a default back color or some other way to make the eyes stand out a bit more when you use the knockback, but other than that it was pretty clear to know what was going on. I agree with Maaack on the knockback effect though, it didnt feel powerful enough.
It's very impressive how everything felt and worked as you'd expect it to, clearly a very polished game despite the time constraints, congrats to the team for a job well done ☺️
The art and music are fantastic! Gameplay was pretty fun, too. I did find the ghosts annoying and the knockback unrewarding/ineffective, so I ended up kiting the ghosts to get them away from the dig spots I wanted. I liked the combination of visual and audio feedback for finding a dig spot and the right-click shortcut to get it into my inventory. I ended up playing up to level 3 before a ghost caught me, and I was bummed I couldn't restart the level.
Overall, really impressed with the level of polish, and the art and music were definitely a standout in this jam. Congrats on the submission!
What a nice game! Super polished and dynamic! The sound effects were sick, and the music too! Love the inventory system, those can be pretty hard to make, so kudos for that!
It has a really tight gameplay loop, and playing it feels super satisfying. Loved the game, great job!
Great art and just polish in general! Loved the treasure space management mechanic!
Ingenious and fun. Great art, smooth animation and bold lines.
I didn’t read the “how to” on my first 2 runs. When I did the theme alignment clicked.
Controls could be a little more concise, for some reason WASD didn’t work first couple of games and I didn’t think to try Q and E to rotate. Who would, or could, use arrows and Q and E?
Great game! It's really complete and the difficulties really add charm to it. It reminds me of the games that I love and used to play online when I was a kid. I love the graphics too. ✨
Very nice! The art is fantastic, with the comic to introduce the game, and the very serious-looking eyes when digging. Having to fit things in a grid is a fun thing to have to do, although maybe it could be under pressure too. The music fits well too; a nice moment overall!
The comic story is wonderful! It's easy and fun to play.
You could have made the eye bigger and the blinking more noticeable or even added a sound when approaching the relic.
Well done!
Incredible game!! I LOVED the menu and the art in general (incredible comic strip and digging animation)!!!
Everything was so well made that one thing stand out because it didnt match the rest (but thats me being picky), it’s the font/text (like Level:0 and Time)! So i guess for the next jam, you might want to start with changing the default project font to any random font hahaha
Absolutely amazing for everything else, great mechanics, lovely art (that backpack was so tasty looking)!! Good job!!!
Super awesome menu and art! Really impressive amount of polished art. The ghosts felt a little too aggressive and I died a lot, but besides that the game was pretty cool! The intro comic was my fave part
I absolutely love this entry, omg! It's so fun to play, the art is SO good, and it feels quite polished for the time you had. Amazing work, this was such a treat to play :))
Thank you so much, we really worked our butts off for this one. Special shout out to Mike our artist because his art is almost always what people like most about our game (and it's well deserved).
Great job! The comic book style art was awesome and I really liked the attention to detail in the audio design. The ghosts one-shotting you felt a bit punishing, especially when they pooled up on a spot I was about to dig in, but it was still a very wonderful entry to the jam, one of the best I've tried so far.
Very good job on the art and UI, I loved the artworks and the frog deity. And the concept is great as well. Hovewer I found the game really hard, especially I felt like the repel does pretty much nothing, the ghost are not pushed that far and come right back
Thanks so much for playing our game! It can definitely be challenging, which was a big concern, especially for a jam where we never know if people will play multiple times to get the hang of things. I hope you still enjoyed playing! :)
Wow such a unique game for this theme. Using the eye staff as a signal to fit this theme is quite creative. The art, music and SFX is great and so fitting for this game! I especially love the little intro. Though the game is kinda hard for me as I couldn't really get past level 2(Maybe that's just a skill issue).
Anyways this game looks really nice and fun to play!
Definitely not a skill issue haha! It's more challenging than it should have been.
I found friends got the hang of it on their 3rd or so attempt, but that's a lot to ask of people when rating submissions in a jam 😅
Thanks so much for playing and the review <3
Ended up with a best score of 1340 (I only made it to level 3 once). Game looks and sounds great. My biggest complaint is that I couldn't respawn at the level I was at and instead had to restart from the beginning. Otherwise I would've liked to see what came at the end.
Good work! First game I've played and I'd be surprised if it's not the one with the best visual polish.
Thanks so much for playing! Yes our artist loves to start with a custom Godot icon once we have decided on our idea for the theme, and we love it as well :D
It's definitely more challenging that it should be for a jam. It's hard to gauge that when you've been play testing it for several days haha
Thanks for the incredibly kind review! <3
The art is great! The game is fun, and I like the backpack inventory management. It reminds me of Overgeared Hero. The wildcards also feel natural in how they’re used.
Thanks so much! I'm going to go checkout Overgeared Hero now!
