Very fun concept, the extra effort on animating the traffic officer really sells the vibe. A couple of small nitpicks though, I wish the cars had a more explicit indicator of their intent. The color doesn't eel like its enough. Also, at some points I got good enoug RNG to where the lanes where cleared, so I was forced to drop the combo
Regardles, fantastic job on this!
Thanks for playing!
And I appreciate the solid feedback. Overall I think I fell a bit short when it comes to clarity with this game, and I'll prioritize it for the next game jam. Also should've increased spawn rate when cars are cleared!
I had a lot of fun! I never would have thought of turning the theme “SIGNAL” into a rhythm game. I got completely caught up in the music and found myself tapping away on my keyboard to the beat. Great job!
I’m glad you enjoyed my game! I’ve had previous experience doing something similar, that was why this idea came up first in my head.
Thank you for the compliments.
I love the minimalism in this, it makes the gameplay stand out really well! The take on the theme was really creative! ^V^ I struggled a bit with the pacing so perhaps that could be tweaked a bit. I’d like to see this expanded further if you think it worth pursuing. Nice work!
Thank you for playing!
I may tune my games a little in the future, for now though I think I'm going to participate a bit more in game jams.
Great! I encourage that! ^V^
This is actually very fun to play:D there could have been more cars near the end, because I was clearing them too effectively💪. You really nailed the theme! This is one of the most engaging games I've played this jam. Keep it up!
ps what is that traffic controller pointing upwards animation
Thanks for completing my game! And thank you for the compliments :D
You know, I couldn't figure out how to clearly show that the player is pointing upwards, and that was the best I could come up with hahaha.
Very cool idea! We had this idea when brainstorming, but the thought of a rhythm game never crossed our mind! Love the animated sprites, but the map itself looks a bit barren, could do with some variation, some small vegetation!
A menu could also help, since it appears I was "stuck" on the tutorial, and only red cars appeared after a while, not sure if I did something wrong!
But pretty cool game, nice work!
Thanks for playing!
And you did nothing wrong haha, it was my fault for not being clear enough: the red cars only appeared for players to practice the “repeat command”, where you press space after your three inputs to repeat your command.
Extra vegetation would’ve been nice. I was also going to add people dancing to the beat in the background as you combo higher, but I just couldn’t find the time to do so. And menus! I always put the UI last, and that could be a lifelong bad habit for me lol. Maybe I should’ve put the tutorials there. Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it!
Oh! Let me try it again in that case! It probably won't affect my rating since I already think the game is a lot of fun though :D
Whoa fun concept for a rhythm game! I will say that I thought the level was ending when the music cut out, it was kind of a strange choice to loop a beat with a fade out. But the concept was there and very solid, and I had a good time after figuring it out! Also a VERY cool interpretation of the theme.
Thank you! Originally I was going to “attempt” to write the music, and boy was I wrong on that. I ran out of time and the placeholder music became the main music for the game, hence the fade out, which I should’ve done some edit on.
I’m happy that you gave my game enough time to figure things out!
It happens! If you need help with editing music for something like this on a future jam feel free to reach out (i'm on the discord so that's probably easiest)! I'm kinda looking to avoid doing this jam solo too many more times, as I keep spending WAY more time than I hope to on games hahhahaa.
Thank you for the offer! Will do!
Love love the feel of this! The control scheme is simple but just hard enough (given the speed, too) to keep you really focused. The ability to repeat the last command feels good, too. The overall rhythm of the game is really nice!
The things I struggled with:
Truly fun; this basically feels like a real, complete game.
Thank you for the compliments!
And I’m surprised that you pointed the two things out, because these two things were actually the biggest concerns I had, and I had to make a choice to abandon one because I was running out of time :(
And the block of texts, I iterated through the words trying to find out how to make players understand, while I could’ve just used visual help, like highlighting lanes and cars.
I really appreciate the feedback, you helped me learn a lot!
Yeah writing tutorials isn’t easy! You did good I think, especially for a jam. And the game is super fun!
So fun! I really like this take on the theme. Great work!
Thank you!
really fun! i don't know how to interpret the signals in the middle. or more accurately-- i wasnt sure which way to send the cars, just used trial and error
I was afraid that the game mechanic is against intuition, and I should've used a more visual oriented tutorial than blocks of texts.
Thanks for playing throughout the game despite the confusion!
Uff my spatial thinking has gone haywire :D
It is a cute little game and the problem sat definetily in front of the computer :)
Nice take on the theme.
Thanks for playing my game!
Great game! Had a lot of fun with it. It is quite enjoyable to puzzle the cars to the beat.
I encountered a strange input bug when moving from the tutorial to the main stage, where the input seems desync from the actual beat? It is fixed after you restart, not sure what it was.
Thanks for playing! Sorry about the desync, it could be a different music loaded right after the tutorial, or that there are too many signals attached to the stream node :(
Hopefully it’s not too game breaking. Thanks for pointing that out!
As someone who flagged in roadways for 14 years I found this satisfying lol
I've been there as well lol, and probably why this idea came up in my head first when the theme was "signal".
Thanks for playing my game!
