I love the concept and idea of the game! It’s fun and engaging. A few features feel unnecessary, maybe because the game is still unfinished: the storage, the manager and the waiter.
Here is what I’d suggest. The manager could run the counter and take payments from customers. The waiter could take the orders and put them on a desk or order board. The chef could then put finished dishes on a pickup desk, where the waiter collects them and serves the customers.
Overall, great game!
Thanks for the feedback! And yeah the manager currently doesn't do anything😅, but the waiter can actually take dishes and drinks made by the chef out of the storage to serve customers!
Oh okay, I didn’t notice it. When I pressed J after making a meal as the chef, it automatically delivered the order to the customer, and they ate it. I’ll try that feature out.
Really interesting interpretation of the theme. I liked the idea of passing the signal between the manager, chef, and waiter to decide which robot you’re controlling, and the visual presentation feels cohesive and polished.
The main thing I struggled with was how much individual handling each order required. Switching characters, walking to storage, collecting ingredients, cooking, and then moving everything back out to customers started to feel fairly meticulous rather than strategic.
I also ran into an inventory issue where I picked up a tomato I didn’t need and couldn’t seem to return it to storage. That permanently occupied one of my inventory slots and prevented me from making recipes that required four ingredients.
Being able to put ingredients back would make experimenting and learning the systems much more forgiving.
The controls were individually simple, but regularly switching my right hand between J/K and the mouse felt a little awkward. I think consolidating more of the interaction onto either the mouse or keyboard would make the overall flow smoother.
Nice work on the art and presentation, though, and controlling several specialized restaurant workers through one shared signal is a pretty original idea.
Hey! Thanks for testing out this game and posting a comment!
Looking back at the gameplay, I do agree on the fact that you need to do quite a lot of management, maybe a little too much. And switching back and forth between the keyboard and the mouse is quite annoying and could be improved. The controls and inventory system were a bit rushed which is mostly why they ended up like this.
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, that makes sense. Especially with how much you were trying to get working during the jam. I think the underlying idea is solid, so tightening up the controls and cutting down some of the repetitive management would go a long way. Glad the feedback was useful!
I also tried out your game and left a rating! I haven't left a comment yet though. I have to say, the interface is really modern and the stealth gameplay is really cool. The music is very fitting for your game. And although the art is just shapes, the ripple effects and atmosphere really gives it that stealth vibe!
Again, thanks for trying out my game, and good luck on the next jam!
Thanks for checking it out too! I really appreciate that.
I’m glad the atmosphere and ripple effects landed. The minimalist art was partly a scope decision for the jam, so I was hoping the lighting, sound, and CROAK effect could carry a lot of the mood.
Good luck on the next jam too! I’ll be interested to see what you make next.
