I loved the drawings of the animals! Sadly I could not reach the last one in the barn, but great game!

Developer

So glad you liked it! Thank you so much for playing!

This mix of 3D models and 2D sprites works surprisingly well here! Really liked how the environment was put together, with all the little details scattered around, like the fences tossed here and there. Even some of the decorations were 2D, like candles and the bubbles in the fountain, which somehow made everything blend together even better. And man, some of those hiding spots were diabolical lol. You really made me work to find everyone! The characters were fun too, loved their different personalities. Moving and jumping around felt good, and having sprint definitely helped with all the exploring. Never really got frustrated with the platforming segments either. Had a good time wandering around. Nice work, both of you!

Thank you so much for your kind words! It makes us so glad to hear that you enjoyed the game :D

The animals are so cute and adorable! I've never figured out how to get to the owl in the barn though, can't reach the upper planks. :(

Well done though!

Thank you so much for playing! Sorry about the platforming, it was a little finicky since we didn't have that much time to work on the game. Glad you still enjoyed it!

Surprising amount of depth to this map considering how small it is. I really enjoyed it overall, though the platforming to get to the crow felt a little too finnicky. Also really loved the 2D and 3D artstyle.

One issue that I kept getting was that it seemed like special characters on the keyboard would bug out and just appear as weird number combinations. Is this a common thing? Or is it maybe more specific to my playthrough?

Developer

Yeahh the web build for some reason didn't like specific punctuation, like exclamation points, etc., but sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. We both ended up being a little too busy to try to fix it, and everything was fine in the Mac and Windows downloads, so we're still not too sure what happened there. maybe something to do with the font we chose? I wish I could've made the platforming a little more crisp, but like I said we were a little too busy. Thanks for the kind words regarding the map and the art! We put a lot of work into making those feel and look good :D

Really good looking, the usage of colors looks professional

Developer

Thanks! EleventhAttic34 cooked with the art :DD

I absolutely LOVE the way you've combined 2D and 3D elements! I also think gameplay-wise, this game has just the right amount of challenge. I saw the Bjorns first but couldn't figure out how to get to them until the end! For funsies, my "found" order was: Ralph, Wilbur, Cinderella, Hooty, Crowbert, Bjorns.

I love the music (and the slight spooky sound effects built into it); it makes it so trying to find everyone is just that little bit more playful of an experience.

I think the only major thing the game could benefit from is some quality of life; an option to view controls would be nice! For finding the Bjorns, I wasn't sure if there was a button I was supposed to press to crouch, or if there was another way around, or if I just wasn't getting them from the right angle...Also, the dialogue bubbles have just a little too much time between when the bubbles show up and the dialogue starts to show up (and there's a strange little symbol every time there's supposed to be a punctuation mark; maybe an issue with the web build?). None of this actively detracted from the gameplay, however, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and the little bit of worldbuilding/lore baked into the dialogue, and all the characters you created!

As a side note, I love the way you can jump onto almost all of the 3D objects; I spent so much time trying to climb the pumpkin piles and get on top of one of the large, carved pumpkins, before I realized that this was the wrong place to access Crowbert from XD A nice red herring! And I also really liked the little hints you built into the gameplay of how to access each character; the dirt mound on top of the giant stone facing in the same direction as the little stone steps to access Crowbert was a nice touch!

Developer

Wow, we really appreciate that it sound like you enjoyed yourself so much! We'll definitely take into account the QOL stuff in our next project together - we were just both very busy while making this one haha! Other people have mentioned the symbol in the dialogue, and that's what I was referring to in the page description. The dialogue all works fine in the downloadable files, but the web build for some reason didn't like certain punctuation, like exclamation points, etc. But sometimes it would work properly, so we didn't really know what was happening... Thank you so much for playing :D

I don't want to rate yet because it might just be me being very dumb.

I found him, but I can't click him. What do I do?? It's really cute!

No worries! If you look around the barn, there is a path up to the ghost! Thank you so much for playing!

Liked the art, super cute! And how the various animals (and a ghost) have unique personalities!

Developer

Thanks so much! We worked hard to make each creature felt different :D

The mixture of 2D and 3D looks amazing, it’s clear a lot of effort was put into this. Hide and seek is always fun, and I really enjoyed the team’s spin on it!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! We're glad you enjoyed :D

Really nice music, art, and 3D environment! Gameplay is simple and movement is satisfying. There is just a small bug where if you find a few creatures, you can exit to the main menu, come back, and collect the remaining number of creatures and win. It's small, though, and the positives definitely overshadow it.  Overall,  nice experience!

Developer(+1)

Now that you mention it, I think I know exactly why that bug exists... I guess I always have room to improve haha! We're super glad you enjoyed the game, and thank you for the kind words :D

Thank you so much for playing! We were really proud of how we managed to mix the 3D assets with our 2D drawings, so I'm glad you liked it, too!

This is a very cute game!! I love the art style and dialogue! I played this in the web browser and had some trouble looking around with my mouse because once my mouse hit the edge of the screen it wouldn't let me turn in that direction. I would say locking the mouse to the middle of the screen would help. But this was such a fun little experience!

Developer

Thank you so much! The web build kind of messed with the pause menu that I put in the game, since I bound the "esc" key to pause the game, and I realized a little too late that the same key is how you escape from fullscreen in Itch, and for some reason the mouse doesn't get locked to the center after "esc" is pressed. It makes us so happy that you enjoyed the game :D

Developer

I'm glad you liked the art style! We wanted to try something new, and mixing 3D and 2D elements sounded cool for a little hide-and-seek game!
