I loved how I could make those signals using the oscilloscope. :>

Well, that one was hard :) I played on normal mode and wasted almost 8 minutes to tune the almost flat sine/triangle waive (it was not only me as I see from other comments) :P I still liked it, reminded me of uni times when I played with oscilloscopes during some lab lessons. I loved the tutorial, that was very straightforward and descriptive. It was engaging and challenging, despite being pretty simple puzzle game. I must say it was also pretty original, I did not expect to play anything like this during the jam. Nothing much to complain about, nice game for short sessions of few minutes to kill some time :)

Immensely accessible, well presented and themed.

Unfortunately, I’m that player who clicks through most dialogs, reading as little as possible. Probably a bad habit from “re-rolling” in RPGs or smth. Fortunately the text is well paced here and I can click through at my leisure.

Yeah, most complaints come from this one signal. Its a triangle signal of frequency 1 and almost minimum amplitude, so it's really hard to read.

really like the visual style and fun writing! the puzzles are fun too, one game i play has trained me for this lol. very nice job!!

Victory screen doesn't work? ):

I'm not a fan of this kind of games but this one is very polished and definitely made with love.

Very nicely polished, and wow, I got to hate Saul as much as the protagonist did -- nice character building there for a short game. Plus, double duty for not only making a game, but introducing people to the joys of signal creation.

This is one of my favorites from the jam! 5/5 on theme, but I'm perhaps a little biased :-P

One note would be that for the 3rd to last puzzle in normal mode, the amplitude was so low that I could not see that it was a triangle wave. I instead assumed there was some offset issue with getting the sine wave to align. Got it on the second attempt, though. Also tried hard mode, and was genuinely impressed with how well balanced the puzzles were. Even with just two overlapping signals, it could have easily become frustrating, but I felt like each puzzle led into the next. Too bad about the alignment bug, but it happens.

Excellent work and a great first submission to GWJ! Welcome and congrats!

I'm glad you liked the puzzles! I was worried they would be hard to read or awkward to solve (like that 3rd one on normal), in fact the original plan was to have up to 4 signals at the same time but during play testing they all felt really really bad. I think zoom options on the oscilloscope would've expanded the range of things the puzzles could do, but alas, hindsight is 20/20 :D

Thank you for the kind words!

Nice work!

Also on the university flashback boat. Really cool concept, nice work!

Back in my university days, I used to do this A LOT haha. Really nice game! It's oddly satisfying, and I think you're onto something here. Nice work

I will say, this is the entry I have played the most so far. I unfortunately am not that smart, and so I applied the SIPR (Saul Is Probably Right) theory to my strategy, which was the secret to my success: Move the sliders til it looks good!!

As simple as that was, I had a blast getting through the levels, and reading the story. Thanks for letting me have a turn on the machine that makes lines.

Love this entry, one of my favorites!

Really cool use of the theme, also really enjoyed the small narrative haha

I think I read your discord message about fourier transforms? yes, those are tricky to wrap your head around 😅 very cool gameplay idea and on point for theme, sadly I was too slow for the cutscene

Developer (1 edit)

I saw that comment on discord too, but that was not me. These signals are nowhere near complex enough to require fourier 😅

Thank you for the kind words!

SWAN SONG is the entry that involves Fourier transforms, if you are both curious to see it in action.

This is... amazing. I think my highest rated game so far.

Cool game! I like the matching waves idea. The tutorial was kinda long, but overall, it's a cool game.

Ah, tales from the radio fishbowl... this is a solid entry sir.
