I like the progression for the drawing part, at first I didn't know what I was looking at, and then it hit me all at once.

I think I understood what you were trying to make, but I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to do. I ended up just clicking around randomly to see what would happen next. Overall, though, the presentation, art style, colors, and shaders are excellent and really suit the game! I agree with the other comments that this game might not be for everyone, but it has a nice gameplay loop that can keep you hooked for quite a while!
Dang I see exactly what you were talking about on discord. This is SO COOL but I feel like it would take months of trying stuff to find the game this tech would best serve. Incredibly cool though and I still had a good time going through the whole thing! Right up my alley in a lot of ways.
One question, was the algorithm at the end supposed to draw H%*&@ S(*&@*(#&@ (to avoid spoilers hahahhaha)? The dialogue seemed to imply that, but I just saw patterns and no image was drawn. Maybe a bug, maybe I misunderstood something?
Thanks for playing and reporting the issue! Another player reported a similar case. I suspect it's a result of logic meant to address other bugs I was seeing during development (which resets the drawing if `delta` is too high), but I'm not sure yet. Changing tabs can causes the issue, too. I'm sad you didn't get to see the final drawing, but I've included the spoiler below:

This game is not gonna be for everyone, but boy is it for me :D
Im a little torn, on one hand I like the little narrative that it's got going itself, but also I wish we could play more with these tools.
I struggled with this submission more than most, so I really appreciate you saying that :-)
I ended up cutting a chunk of content from the first level when I ran into a blocker and didn't have a strong enough grasp of the math to fix it. I might take another stab at it after having some time away.
Thanks again for the encouraging words!
Cool concept. It was a bit confusing, but after some playing around I figured out what to do. I thought the game was finished when it got to the Spirograph part, but I left it on for a while and had dialogue pop up. Maybe a goal shown in the corner or something would have helped me know it wasn't just a toy. The final image didn't fully render because it kept wiping, but I could see what it was supposed to be. Gave me a bit of a laugh.
Loved the story and the sound, the intro was also well executed. Also, Fourier transform and frequency space always sounded to me like something out of a sci-fi setting, so it was really fun to see someone combine these two things. I wish the puzzle element of the game had been taken a little bit further to elevate the gameplay. Though either way, really cool submission, great work!
I really loved the intro, it was hyping me up and I didn't know what I was in for.
But when the tutorial level started, I had noooo idea what to do. I did try to read up on the Fournier transform but I couldn't understand any of it, so I ultimately just tried random numbers until I gave up and clicked on the solution button.
That being said, signal as in "a signal from space" is one of my favorite intepretation of the theme, and I feel like it's a really difficult one to really build an experience upon, and I think maybe with a more dumbed-down system, with more self discovery applied, it would have been a super cool game.
Good luck, and good work on your entry!
Really cool graphics, impressive math at play here.
Theme was on point, and really good effects for a jam.
Unfortunately it didn't really feel like my input had any purpose, I still have no idea what Fourier means but I just pressed buttons until it worked.
Funny ending 10/10
Nice job!
That intro was so cool! It definitely took me a hot second to figure out what I was supposed to do, but the ending was worth it! The sound and art felt really polished, and overall this was a really game. Great work!
Bit lost on progression. Did give me university flashbacks to Matlab signal analysis, evoked a deep emotional response. Nice work!
The sound design here is really great. But I'm having some trouble really understanding what this is asking the player to come in to the game with. As someone who knows nothing about Fourier transforms (and also doesn't come from a STEM background) I was immediately overwhelmed and had no idea what to do. Everything looks incredibly polished and the sound really is great, I think I'm just not understanding the mechanics. Regardless, congrats on the submission!
Love the waves, and sounds. Very cool use of graphing out the signals. The story was a bit hard for me to follow
Ugh. Meant to comment here and not the game page!
I was extremely confused because I started the game and stepped away. When I returned, I’d missed the initial story bit completely and was in the first signal UI. Assuming I’d missed something, I refreshed the page to start again and went straight into the signal UI. Nevertheless I finished and later figured out to reset the game from the options menu to get the initial story.
Anyway, excellent UI and good interpretation of the theme. You could just release the spirograph part as a toy and it would be amazing!
Really original interpretation of Signal. I liked that decoding the transmission isn’t just the story around the game, the signal analysis itself is the puzzle.
The biggest issue for me was onboarding into the first puzzle. I have very little pre-existing knowledge of Fourier analysis, and initially I didn’t have enough information to form a good mental model of what the controls were actually doing. I understood the system through solving it, and once the first stage clicked, the second and third stages were much easier to reason about. I think a little more scaffolding early on could preserve the discovery without making the first step feel quite so opaque.
The audio was the standout for me. The hollow drone, occasional clicks and mechanical sounds, and especially the amount of empty space in the mix fit the setting really well and gave me room to think.
Visually I still like the clean black-and-white language from CRUMBLING CASTLE, although there are enough placeholders here that the game feels like it stopped short of the level of finish it was aiming for.
It’s also quite short, but the central idea is strong enough that I would’ve happily kept going if there were more signals to investigate.
And the final interpretation of the transmission got me. I’m not spoiling it here, but after all that careful analysis, the payoff was absolutely worth it.
