Respect & Affection.

I'll be honest, I haven't gone super far in the latest version, seeing as I've just paid the debt and been piddling around forever without even doing the mage/traitor quest yet. That said, I'm wondering if anyone knows a way or item to reliably decrease one or the other rather than increase it. I'm asking cause I wanna see if there's combo bonuses or any other effects with certain opposite levels. I have found a fair few items to increase either respect, affection, or both, but never have I ever found an item or reliably repeatable way to decreas one of the two stats.

Not sure if there's any way to really control that well enough. But I'll do you one better, go into the assets/data files and open the one labeled "Effects" (which is just a basic notepad file) and find that section:

The code (click to reveal the rest of it)

e_standing_love_pest = {

type = 'simple',

descript = '',

conditions = [

{code = 'stat', stat = 'affection', operant = 'gte', value = 50},

{code = 'stat', stat = 'respect', operant = 'lte', value = -50},

],

statchanges = {},

tags = ['standing_love_pest', 'hide_from_stat_breakdown'],

buffs = [],

sub_effects = [],

},

e_standing_housemate = {

type = 'simple',

descript = '',

conditions = [

{code = 'stat', stat = 'affection', operant = 'gt', value = -50},

{code = 'stat', stat = 'affection', operant = 'lt', value = 50},

{code = 'stat', stat = 'respect', operant = 'gt', value = -50},

{code = 'stat', stat = 'respect', operant = 'lt', value = 50},

],

statchanges = {hp_reg_add_part = 0.1, mp_reg_add_part = 0.1},

tags = ['standing_housemate', 'hide_from_stat_breakdown'],

buffs = [],

sub_effects = [],

},

e_standing_sworn_servant = {

type = 'simple',

descript = '',

conditions = [

{code = 'stat', stat = 'affection', operant = 'lte', value = -50},

{code = 'stat', stat = 'respect', operant = 'gte', value = 50},

],

statchanges = {productivity = 0.1},

tags = ['standing_sworn_servant', 'hide_from_stat_breakdown'],

buffs = [],

sub_effects = [],

},

e_standing_beloved = {

type = 'simple',

As you can see, there are four categories:

Love Pest, which requires high affection and low respect, and offers no bonuses.

Housemate, which  is medium affection and respect, and offers a +10% buff to HP and MP.

Sworn Servant- High respect, low affection, and a +10% productivity.

Beloved is high respect and affection, and gives no bonuses.

So... there's not really a whole lot of minmaxing or exploring to do on this one.

Sorry for such a late response, but thank you for the info. I already knew about the Housemate and the Beloved ones, but it's neat to know the others there. And thank you to the dev too for the tidbit on that Love Pest one.

about Beloved - I doubt that lowering Upkeep in half is not a bonus in itself. It  works only with subordinates though

Love pest has a custom bonus for sex encounter experience gain.

Even with knowing about the categories, if you still want to know how to tank a stat to actually get them, the only way I've found so far to repeatably get respect to go down is to date them and get a lot of affection with no fear.  And the only way I've noticed to tank affection so far is to act like a jerk in events, personal or random.
