A whole universe's worth of lore is lurking behind this game, and I love that idea. ZQSD controls would've been a nice touch, but using W made the game more challenging, so I guess that's a good thing. The fluidity and graphics are amazing, great job!!!

Thank you so much cr3aux! It seems like having the whole keyboard is common feedback haha. Definitely something for us to consider when we're updating it. I am a big fan of Typing of the Dead, and similar games. I'm glad the coding held up, I can never know what everyone's experience is going to be once it gets uploaded.
I agree with you on that for sure. If we were to use the whole keyboard, there would need to be a broader rework of the controls. I wouldn't want to force the player to move between two hands on the letter keys to one hand on the arrow keys or the mouse and back again. If I was made to type full words, I'd expect to have both hands on the letter keys for the majority of the game.
Gameplay was very unique, something that I haven't seen before! the art music really amazing even though the music was a liitle louder, good game!
Concept: I really like it, it's unique and fits the theme pretty well.
Gameplay: it's quite fun, kept me going for quite a few rounds. The enemies and skeletons feelt a bit buggy, I often couldn't tell what was exactly going on on the battle field and it wasn't very clear what damaged what and when.
Art: the spritework is really amazing, looks very pretty. The animations being very low framerate did hurt the readability of the action a bit, though I can imagine animations in this artstyle taking a very long time to make so it's understandable.
Audio: everything's nice and fitting. I especially like the ultimate sound effect, funny reference, made me smile everytime I got to use it.
Overall, very solid entry, works well and is very pretty. Nice work!
Thank you for the thorough review! I'm really happy that you liked it enough to go multiple rounds. You're right about the enemies and skeletons; there are some things I intend to go back and fix with them, and the combat was originally meant to be a fair bit clearer. We decided on the ultimate sound effect very early in the planning, and we knew it had to make it in. I'm glad to hear it added something to the experience.
Pretty cool idea, with really nice artwork - very unique! The gameplay is simple but fun and challenging. My only critique is that the necromancy theme is a bit loose. Still a very good game overall! Thanks for jamming with us :)
Hey - thanks for playing, and for the nice feedback! Did you summon the skeletons? The game is centered around summoning an undead army. You use the QWEASD keys for the spells and the arrow keys to summon skeletons in both directions. I thought summoning the undead was pretty on-theme, but I'm open to hearing what your thoughts are!
This game reminds me of that one arc from Solo Leveling. I love the uniqueness of typing out letters to cast out the spells! The visuals (especially the tutorial UI) look solid!
Very cool game concept! Deploying the soldiers was a nice mechanic added on to the type matching, and the visuals were done really well! Also, earning and using the ultimate was very rewarding. Nice work!
Very neat concept ! I like qte mechanics generally, and this is well incorporated.
The game is especially challenging because it requires divided attention. It made me want to be good at it so I played it multiple times over (and eventually managed to beat my girlfriend's first time score lol).
The atmosphere is particularly polished with the art (background, ui and character sprites).
I had good fun playing this!
I really like game that use the keyboard like that !! But i was too focus on the letter that i would not see the game playing, maybe you can find a way to suggest the letter or maybe on the enemy too avoid the player focusing to much on the letter.
But it's a cool game and the art and the music are rly good !!
cool game! a suggestion i would have is to make the skeletons automatically spawn when you type a spell instead of charging a skeleton into your slots. that way you can just focus on typing and switching directions instead of going to your mouse, and you could use the whole keyboard instead of just qweasd, to make it more interesting/difficult. it was kinda hard to manage using the mouse and i found aiming the skeletons really wasnt that useful compared to just placing them the game is fun though! i like typing stuff really fast and im pretty good at it so its enjoyable i loved the art and music :)
Overall it was a fun and good game, like others have said i think using more coherent magic words than just random letters would have been cool
Cool concept. I wonder if the words that you type could be more like magical spell words instead of random letters, but I get that they are isolated in a narrow keyboard range. Or maybe it could be (magical) symbols instead of letters? Nice game.
Thanks for the feedback! Keeping the typing hand in one range of the keyboard was definitely a consideration, but using real words is a good idea. I like the idea of symbols, but I'm not sure how that would work at the moment. I suppose you could click runes instead of typing on the keyboard? Anyway, thanks for the ideas!
I liked the concept, but it was hard to know what to press. That could just be me being bad at knowing the keys though. I was thinking maybe it would be easier to focus using numbers or the arrow keys, but again, I could just be bad at remembering what keys to press haha. The artwork is awesome though, and it really stood out for sure!
I lost, but I had fun! Cool idea for how to cast spells and a neat concepts for a game that could probably be expanded on! Using the whole keyboard might help me learn to type faster >.<
Really like the art too, overall well done :)
Very good looking game. Very cool idea. I suck at it so the game is not for me, but it's still good.
Graphics are seriously impressive.
Feel free to rate my game as well :)
