AssetHoard: a local-first asset manager for game devs (0.2.4 out now)

AssetHoard is a local-first desktop asset manager for indie game devs and artists. Point it at your asset folders and it builds one searchable library of sprites, 3D models, audio, fonts and engine files, all stored on your own machine. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it's free during the open beta.

AssetHoard watched folder setup

What it handles

  • 80+ file types across 2D, 3D, audio and more
  • Godot, Unity, Unreal and GameMaker projects and packages, previewed without opening the editor
  • First-class Aseprite and Krita support, plus sprite sheet slicing and animation export
  • Full 3D mesh and animation previews
  • Natural language search across your whole library

New in 0.2.4: watched folders that track changes

  • Renames and moves keep tags, categories, bundles and project links, even ones made while AssetHoard was closed.
  • Unplugged drives and network shares pause instead of going missing.
  • 3D model thumbnails generate around 20x faster on import, and most image thumbnails are now made after import.
  • Re-importing a changed file updates the existing asset instead of creating a duplicate.

Linux users can install from the DEB, RPM or AUR repos instead, which keeps you on the latest build: https://assethoard.com/downloads
