Aw, quite emotional and charming. You succeeded in making the likable characters you were aiming for and I think both the writing and the sprites equally contributed with that!
As others mentioned, I thought the sfx were good but did overstay their welcome sometimes. But I do understand how hard it is to put out something of this size by yourself! Overall, great work and I'm glad you were able to put it all together to enter the jam!

Wow! What a beautiful and incredible experience! I haven't cried in many a year, but this very nearly got me. To be able to write such a lovely, heart-warming story with the perfect amount of comedy sprinkled throughout whilst also retaining the overall thematic outline of the jam - you've executed that with aplomb. I was smiling almost all throughout (until the latter portions)!
The character building and bonding were done excellently, and felt natural and genuine, even in such a relatively short time. I also think you hit the sweet spot with pacing and overall length.
Solid sprite work! Echoing other comments, Yuna's expressions were phenomenal and hit the funny bone just right for me. Absolute chef's kiss.
Of course, it's very impressive that you've managed to put all this together by yourself, and you should really be proud of this project, but I think you would benefit from having 100% original assets throughout. I'm sure you have your reasons for working solo on this, but I believe getting other people involved to create original background art, music, SFX and potentially even voice acting would take this project to the next level. Something to think about, at least. I'd genuinely pay for a story of this quality if the overall experience was improved and embellished. Side note, the music you did choose to implement worked pretty perfectly and I'd imagine it would be hard to let go at this point anyway.
I'll be coming back to see ending B and C once the jam ends. Congrats on such a great piece of work, looking forward to hearing your future plans. All the best!
A super charming game, with writing that had a good spread of spooky moments, chuckles, and heartwarming scenes. The sprites, particularly for Yuna later on, were very cute throughout, and the relationships between the characters felt well-developed (I have a special fondness for Makoto and Hikaru's friendship). Great job, especially for being a solo project, and a very cool premise for the Remnant world that you've set up! Congrats!
This journey was such an emotional roller coaster!
The way the introduction was presented was my favorite part. Showing the player what they can expect if they don't fulfill a remnant's wish serves as good motivation in the beginning to do whatever we can to help Yuna. It was a nice set up that made me feel a connection with the characters and their motivations almost instantly. The story overall had a domestic, slice of life feel to it, surrounded by mysteries in not only how we can help Yuna, but also how Yuna can help Makoto as well. I got ending A and found it quite satisfyingly heartfelt. Though I am curious about the others as well!
I really enjoy the lore surrounding remnants and ghosts and can definitely see the similarities (and differences) with that of my own project's setting. It was a lot of fun to compare and contrast them along the way.
The little ghostie sprite was so adorable! I like all the silly variations. The playfulness of it was a nice way to add a little lighthearted fun, despite the tragic situation. Needless to say Yuna was my favorite character. I like her sass and enjoyed her interactions with Makoto. I found them quite humorous and entertaining.
I like the simplicity of the GUI. It felt nice and clean. Making it easy to read and comprehend, which is exactly what I prefer personally for a visual novel.
In the way of constructive criticism, while I liked the music, the sound effects were a little loud and over abundant, so I do wish that the two were on different tracks, so that I could've turned the sound effects volume down more while keeping the music loud enough for me to enjoy it.
Also when the sprites "jump", you can see where they are cut off, which made the characters looks more like floating busts than people. It looked a bit odd to me. As a sprite artist myself, I always make mine full body, to avoid this very situation. It would definitely be something I'd recommend if you plan on doing those kind of animations.
Other than those two minor details, I thought it was overall a nice story with a lot of heart, care, and thought put into it. Very nicely done!
If this game were a movie, it would totally blow up. I have been playing several games in this jam, but in terms of narrative, this is the best one. Makoto, Akane, and Yuna are beautifully written; you can deeply connect with their tragedy, and I loved the fact that you chose a happy ending for it. I don't want to say too much because I would spoil the game, but I can say that my favorite part was Makoto's acceptance of what happened so he can live happily alongside Yuna. Great, great job my friend!
