Hi! I released the Ren'Py Horror Kit, a folder you copy into game/ that adds the mechanics of fear to a visual novel.

A sanity meter that warps the picture and splits its colours below half
hk.jumpscare("ghoul") with flash, zoom, shake and a sting sound
A flashlight that follows the mouse, a heartbeat vignette, VHS tape with a running clock, blood drips
Four creepy text tags and chase choices against the clock
Soft-scare, reduced-motion and QTE-assist switches for players who need them

Tested in Ren'Py 8.5.3; the screenshots on the page are real engine screenshots of the demo. It is 40% off in the Halloween sale until 4 November.
