I was checking back and saw my comment never got posted, I must have forgotten to press 'post comment'. Delighted to see you've had a few people comment and give you some feedback, and it was also a pleasure to watch your game on stream too.
The background ambience certainly adds an edge to a spooky feel. I loved Vera's design and agree there are some lovely backgrounds in this project. I would recommend folks do play around with a few options as some are more complete than others.
Writing for games demands a lot of time, planning and energy! Hope you can continue to enjoy game jams and give Spooktober another go next year! I would recommend considering to avoid too many heavy paragraphs at once which can slow down the pacing of your game. You could try to create a spooky linear game if there is no much writing time!
All the best!

Thank you so very much! And thank you for mentioning the streams! They're often on at a time I can't watch, I forgot I was going to go find them to watch later, thanks for the reminder!
I'll absolutely keep that in mind for next time! It all ended up being pretty rushed, as we somewhat ended up with just a programmer, someone to do character sprites, and me XD who did the rest.
Either way, it was a lot of fun, and I'm really grateful for the attention the game got on our first attempt. And, ngl, we're already looking forward to next year 🤣
