Hey AillaPNG!

I came across Aí está você de novo, garota. and really appreciate the meta-narrative framing you’ve built: having the player interact with Ailla strictly through a "window" to guide her through an isolated, mysterious forest creates a really unique dynamic of presence and intimacy!

Your setup touches on a deep storytelling concept in interactive fiction: When communication is filtered through a literal interface or window, how does that constraint alter the emotional bond and trust between the player and the character on the other side?

It also makes me wonder about the broader transmedia footprint: Do you see this style of window-based narrative expanding beyond a single visual novel—into cross-platform logs, ARG elements, or expanded storyverses where the player stays connected to characters across different media?

We’re currently exploring, testing, and debating these exact frontiers of interactive narrative, character dynamics, and media architecture over at the Transmedia Jam #1: Humans versus AI: /jam/transmedia-jam-1

Given your work on character-driven visual novels and interface-based storytelling, your perspective would be a fantastic addition to the community debate. Feel free to stop by, check out the jam, or share your thoughts!

Good luck getting that support ticket sorted out with itch.io, and keep up the great work!

Hello, how are you? I hope you’re doing well. Thanks for leaving a comment here.

And yes, I do think this "window-based" style of gameplay creates a more intimate connection with the player; it was actually inspired by the *Doki Doki Literature Club* mod *Monika After Story*—it’s the only visual novel I’ve ever played.

I don’t speak English, so I wouldn’t be of much help in this community.

This was the only visual novel I’ve made, and I won’t be working on games anymore. It was a great experience, but also very exhausting, and it meant putting all my other real-life pursuits on hold.

I’m hoping to find someone who speaks both Portuguese and English to help port the game into English.

Thanks for the invitation!

Thank you for your honest reply, AillaPNG!

Monika After Story makes total sense as an inspiration—it captured that intimate, eerie presence through the screen so well, and you recreated a similar resonance here.

I completely respect your decision to step back. Solo development is exhausting, and prioritizing real life is essential. Creating and releasing a complete 3 to 6-hour visual novel on your own is already a huge achievement to be proud of!

But here’s the main thing: pre-existing projects are 100% allowed in this jam! You don't need to translate it, update it, or do any extra work at all. You can simply submit your current page as it is. It takes two clicks, zero effort, and gives your work a bit more visibility while you take a well-deserved break.

(And if you ever want to get it translated into English later, posting on subreddits like r/translator or the itch.io community boards is usually a great way to find bilingual volunteers or collaborators).

No pressure at all, but your game is a great piece of work and it deserves to be seen. Wish you the absolute best for what’s next! ✨
