At 2:17 a.m., high in the Atacama desert, an insomniac astrophysicist finds 41 cosmic rays that shouldn't exist, all lined up along three perpendicular axes. As if space were a grid. As if someone were saving on resolution.

Then the overworked process that schedules our simulated universe reads her paper. Write a sloppy bug report and the Milky Way gets "optimized". Be kind, and find out what it's been waiting 13.8 billion years to ask.
