I really like the ps1-esque look of the game, especially with the fixed camera angles. However, I felt like the movement was REALLY clunky, and that made it really difficult to get into/through some of the rooms where the camera stayed put but the character hadn't walked far enough to be on the screen yet (mainly because I think I got stuck on a wall or a doorjamb). Then again, I remember that being something that happened with a LOT of ps1 games, so I don't even necessarily think that that one's on you.
I love how the neighbors are drawn in a completely different style from the rest of the game and how each one has enough personality to stand out. I also like how you played with two different "realms" to deal with, it made the game feel extremely surreal at certain points. I felt like the "other" realm was both whimsical (with the brighter colors at some points) but extremely terrifying all at once, and it was a combination that worked.
I think the only real critique I have is that there might need to be a slight bit of player guidance, at least in the beginning. I actually found some of the neighbors before finding the elevator and couldn't figure out why I was asking for a fuse from them until I walked down the hall and found the elevator two seconds later. I think all you need is an objectives log. I also found ambient dialogue from the main character saying something like "oh, there's a screwdriver here" or "I think there's something here," but there was no way to interact with the area. I'm not sure if that was a bug I ran into, but I'm sure hoping I don't need whatever she saw in the pile of trash near the stairs.
Overall, this was incredibly creative and I really liked it. I hope you keep up the good work.
