Playtest: THE READ - one input, 1 minute. Tell me if it felt like a read or like luck.

I made a small browser game about one specific feeling: the half-second where you move before you know why.

Two lanes charge at your base. One is real and will pop. The other is bait. Both of them speed up partway through. You commit to the lane you think is real, inside a window that closes before the pop. One input: Up/Down, or tap top/bottom.

What I actually need: play 8-10 rounds, then answer one question.

When you committed, did it feel like a read (you saw the lane speed up and trusted it), or did it feel like luck?

I'm not fishing for praise. "It felt like luck" is the more useful answer right now, and if that's what it is, tell me which part was unreadable: too fast, can't tell the two lanes apart, or can't tell when the commit window is open.

Free, no download, no account, works on desktop and phone. 1-2 minutes.

If you want the trade, I'll play yours and leave specific notes on the actual feel, not "nice game".

Honestly, neither a read nor luck. There's a small bar at the bottom, and I just tapped when it turned white. After that it became routine.

The graphics were also a bit strange for me, I couldn't really tell what I was looking at :)

If the trade's still open, mine is here: https://axerilabsgames.itch.io/flip-run-prototype

Thanks, this is the most useful answer I have had on this thing, and it is the one I did not want.

"Neither, it became routine" tells me I built a cue you could find once and then time on autopilot. That is the failure I keep re-shipping: a tell that resolves to one edge is a stopwatch with extra steps, not a read. And if you could not tell what you were looking at, that is on my art, not on you.

The build that is live now is not the two-lane one in the post. It is one beast at the base planting its front leg, 3 reads to clear level 1, 20 second clock. So:

1. Which one did you play, two lanes or one beast?

2. When you tapped "when the bar turned white", were you seeing READ on screen before the beast moved, or were you mostly eating it? That tells me whether you found a real cue or a rhythm that just felt clean.

Trade is open. I will play Flip Run and give you the same honesty back, no praise tax.

I played the one beast. I never saw the READ text, I was only watching the bar and tapping when it turned white.

Thanks for taking the trade! The game is actually called Flipzag, the URL still has the old name. Two things I'd really like to know: was it clear what to do in the first minute, and did anything in level 1 not read as what it's supposed to be?
