Knee Deep in Slime by TwilightVerdict

This is an autobattler/tug-of-war of sorts, where you mostly watch pixelated anime girls fight the slimes.

LINK: I'm not sure if I'll finish, so I'll keep this blank for now, and I hate uploading half-finished trash.

The heart of my TINY game is watching anime girls clobber the slimes while strategically spawning new ones when the frontline gets slaughtered.

I’ll consider it finished when I have 4 anime girls to choose from and a working game loop.

Something I want to learn or try is a written script, as I'm a Construct refugee.

My first step is making the art.

My next check-in will probably be 10/11 October

Ooh cool. I really like your art style from the cover of Dungeon Friends. Are the anime girls going to be 2D illustrations like that? I bet a lot of the work will be just in animating them fighting / pulling the rope.

Since you're not sure if you'll finish, why don't you aim for 1 anime girl and a working game loop? I'd think a super simple way to start would be one action to take. You could also start by mocking up each screen in Paint or Aseprite or whatever and posting them here. They can be super dank but if you've got some idea of what actors are on screen and what actions can be taken, it might help your mental map.

Anyways, thanks for joining the jam! I'm subscribed to this topic now - cya on the 10th or 11th!

Since my last update i created all the art for the girls and ability to spawn them.
My next update will be hopefully working auto-combat,probably around 15/16 October if i could spare some time

Since my last update i finished the logic for the girls, each have her own gimmick, for example yandere gets a stacking buff when other girls around her die and she is the only one that can target annoying bat that flies from time to time.
Edit: for me the funiest bit is how girls get yeeted out when they die xD

My next update will be adding two more slime variants and optimising the spawner ,  probably in couple of days, 19-20 October i hope

Haha oh man this is very cool! Before you get too stuck into optimising and adding variants, I highly recommend posting it publicly. I wanna play it! Plus, you're the only one who's played this so far (I assume), and there may be bigger fish to fry than optimisations when it comes to making the game fun. And it's nothing personal - it's basically impossible to make a game fun without showing it to other people first.

Okay, here is the link to game as it is now, it is extremly bare, there is no menu/tutorial so you have to figure out how to play.
I added lots of things since last update like new slimes, combo system and speed up/pause options.
EDIT: alt+Enter for fullscreen, mouse scrolls the scren near the edges

Since last update i added complete main menu with instructions etc.
My next update will contain general polish: sounds, additional art, those sort of things as i belive core game loop is finished.

Hey Twilight Verdict!

I got caught up the past few weeks, so I'm bringing you feedback later than I wanted. But, this game is awesome! You said at the start that you hate uploading half-finished trash, and that you weren't sure if you'd end up uploading it - I'm really glad you did! You've come a long way since then, this might be your best game yet!

Rather than write a text wall of feedback I thought I might just play your game and record it! (it's unlisted)

With ✌️,
Nat
