The update has been slated for 2026 since April, dates haven't been given for months precisely due to the fact they kept getting missed. The 70% post being in July, there's a saying in game dev, "80% of the work takes 20% of the time, the remaining 20% takes 80% of the time."

Now granted, the before GTA VI is a clear deadline, but saying "nobody is buying it" is just false, lots and lots of people are expecting the update before then. But to say "came after months of setting specific deadlines and constantly moving the goalposts." when again, the date has been 2026 since April is just false. Detrimental to your point honestly. There's no need to make things up.

Yeah, we should both ask for refunds.

Delays are understandable, but nuking Discord channels, changing release conditions on the fly, and ghosting the community isn't 'normal dev cycle' it's poor management. If they just posted transparent updates, nobody would be spamming. It's totally normal that people are pissed off when this is how they handle feedback

The initial release date, and only that one (the april issue) was the poor management along with the communication, after that it has always been 2026, people just create their own believes and try to make those into a "given date" when is not. As for Discord channel, it was nuked because of a discord incident around the same time it got restricted for the banner (even thought it had nothing wrong), that has nothing to do with this topic and brings nothing to the point.

Was the discord “incident” the one in which Kal rolled a die and it landed on the number the Starmaker channel was? Or the bloom incident? At least that’s what was actually given as the reasons for deleting the channel, not an “incident”

If you really believe that was done by a random dice roll i don't really know what to tell you. So you're entitled to your own opinion.

I mean yeah of course I knew it was entirely extremely unlikely the most active channel in the server was deleted via dice roll, but what was the point in lying. That’s my point. Why is communication continuously bad when it’s been said that it’s something to be worked on. Why are you still being vague here too?

Why am I being vague, I just said before, "it was nuked because of a discord incident around the same time it got restricted for the banner (even thought it had nothing wrong)", I don't have to go into the specifics.

Well I guess I conflated that the reason given of said “nuke” of the channel in discord wasn’t necessarily an incident to do with the banner. But I stand corrected. It wasn’t the bloom posting that it was said to be the reason, but discord flagging you guys. Sorry.

Dawg just put your hopes to rest, Kal has already stated how he didn't specify which version of GTA6 he was talking about; be it the console release or the PC port.

Just a clown show as always.

He also admitted it would have been better if he had released multiple versions during the year instead of piling everything up for a single 1.9 release, but since then he has still not released what's currently ready.

Mods and regulars on Discord are too busy defending the use of the r-word and f-slur because "the meaning of these words has changed with time" to care about communication with the itch.io community.

"Just a clown show as always." With you as the main act.

I might be the clown, yet none of my points have been addressed ;)

You didn't make any points.

Sure buddy, whatever makes you happy :)

Hello there,
this is untrue, the date was specified for April and after then it was changed to 2026, if users spread misinformation about random dates, like the people saying it would be on Halloween and then getting mad it didn't release that's on them. As always, I'm not denying the communication could be better, but the "famous 70%" was not the last thing, the only reason I've kept putting the previews here is to keep everything in a single post. Kal has stated multiples of times that he is not the best with posts and that he rather just continues working instead of use that time for a post, that let's be honest, most ppl will say, "is just pictures, nothing else". Also "but at this point nobody is buying it", is free, there's nothing to buy. And "banning anyone who dares to look at a calendar", there is a difference about asking if there is new information and another to just keep complaining about the update or sending slurs to the dev.
Anyways that's my say on that.

(+2)

wrong, it was changed like 3 times, if I remember correctly twice here and one more time on twitter, kal posted a date and then edited the post. Honestly it might’ve been changed more than 3 times, I might have the screenshots somewhere in my gallery, but it doesn’t matter, the hate/frustration yall are receiving is totally earned. If I was you I would stay radio silent in here, the damage control you guys are doing is not working at all lol

(+1)

We are not alike, I don't have the need to stay radio silent; I'm here answering questions. This is not damage control, is just me speaking to people, know the difference.

Yes the spam is getting to a point now where it is obscuring genuine questions and feedback. But the reason people are spamming rightly or wrongly is because their concerns are not being addressed in anyway.

We understand life and game development is unpredictable.

But again it takes two seconds for a mod to come on here create a locked thread (if feedback is not wanted) and explain the current situation.

Anyone not participating in the Discord does not have a clue what is going on, look at the Roundscape steam forums as a prime example and I fear here on itch is becoming the same story.

I believe the more sensible among us are not asking “update when” but what’s going on?
