Nicely done! Enjoyed the game a lot, still haven't managed to complete the game though, best my attmept is past 4am, might try again later. The gameplay loop is nice, running around the house trying to complete each minigame and survive, alongside the tension building up when multiple things are happening at once! Overall, this is quite a nice entry! Well done!

Other things I like:

  • Different minigames having their own cue and death cutscene (though I am always getting the window one even though there's nothing outside the window. Is it reused?)
  • Death cutscene looks nice
  • Sound design is super tense, and adds to the immersiveness of the game

Suggestions:

  • I guess things need to be explained a bit more in the game, like I am not entirely sure if turning on the lights makes a difference, if locking the door(room door not the main ones) without a monster in the house helps or hinders (making the player spend more time moving), how the phone mechanic works, the monster in the house can be run past, etc
  • If the game wants to rely on sound cues only, these events should be clearly introduced in the tutorial (going over each of them one by one) to let the player familiarise themselves with them before the true game begins
  • I love the "looking out of the window" minigame a lot, just that it would be great to see the progress of shining towards the monster. An example would be shaking more and more until it disappears

Oooooh, thank you for playing our game and leaving such a detailed comment, I really appreciate the feedback!

- What do you mean by reused? Did you mean that the window game over screen gets played even when there is nothing outside? Pffft, usually nothing is reused, so it might have been a bug...?

- According to the other comments... it seems like we do lack a lot of explanation, yes! I will keep this in mind when making my next games! (Also, I found it harder than expected to properly explain game mechanics and tutorials diegetically... Since I know the game in and out I wasn't sure on what to explicitly tell...)

- And on the last point, I did ask a few friends to play test the game, only to realize how much lacking in juice it is, it's something that I didn't notice was a problem until they point out how confusing it is!
