Regarding Wallpaper Mode: yes, it keeps simulating the colony in the background while you work or relax. It’s not just a passive display. Your ants keep foraging, digging, and growing while the game runs on your desktop. (When a maximized app covers the desktop, the nest stops being drawn to save power, but the simulation keeps going.)
