Thanks for making this one, the porch setup pulled me in right away. I asked each visitor the three questions and dragged candy to them, and I liked how the shadowy first visitor ran back to Dad after thanking me, and how the cat visitor's tail kept falling off while it talked about being a Wampus Cat. The porch art and the three lit pumpkins in the corner gave it a warm, spooky feel even while I was trying to spot a fake. One thing that tripped me up was that I only ever saw candy as a treat option, so it was not clear when salt, sardines or a glow stick would come into play.

I'm not sure if it was intended or not but the transition from day to night, you only had candy but there was a cryptid so you couldn't give them the thing they needed.

Maybe that was the prompt to read the journal, but it was confusing.

Little too easy to detect the cryptids - maybe make the parent's random, don't have the exact script being consistent across all 3 prompts for a given cryptid, etc.

I appreciated that you got less clues as the night went on, but by then you mostly didn't need it

Thank you for the feedback! The candy mechanic on the first cryptid was intended. The intent was to push the player towards the journal and to also set the tone in the story that something was off. Thank you for playing! :)

I did not expect Appalachian folklore!

The game was fun, but I think you could push the gameplay a bit further. More cryptids, or maybe some that are harder to spot?

The graphics were ok- they worked for this game (reminded me a bit of flash games from early 2000s). The sound was extremely quiet though.

As for the theme use- it's pretty straightforward (kids only come out at night on Halloween), but it works for the jam :)

Over all- cool little game!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I honestly am not the greatest at drawing so that was a little bit of a struggle. This was my first game jam so I was trying my best to get out of my comfort zone a bit.

Thanks again! :)
