I played Arcade mode and won a few rounds doing nothing but Forward + Kick, the CPUs just have no answer for it + it can hit them as they're still getting up.
Casual fun with friends, but I wish I could have training mode where you can practice all the button and local 2 players
I understand that this is a more realistic approach to fighting games so I guess AI has to be balanced to make themself cornered too easily in competitive, have you ever checked the game "footies"? that has interesting idea on how differentiate AI opponents
I kind of like how deliberate everything feels. It reminds me of Soul Calibur making a big deal out of horizontal vs vertical cuts and stuff and it makes the game really easy to understand even if you’re not very good at this sort of thing. SC3 is like the only fighter I ever put a significant amount of time into because it’s just too hard for me to read what the other guy is gonna do in every other game.
Only complaint is that I couldn’t find a way to exit out of Arcade Mode, it just seemed to go on forever despite sensei in the back eliminating the two lowest after every bout. I tried Escape and Q and F10 and a couple of the other common exits and just had to kill the window to quit.
Works fine on Arch with Proton, didn’t see any problems.
I just viewed the video, thanks for playing the game.
The Arcade Mode isn't fleshed out too much yet and the only way for the game to be elimated is to lose yourself. And because the AI isn't very good/smart yet it makes the whole mode very easy. These are two things I need to work on.
The player character froze in competitive mode. The character was stuck in the pose you see in the image, while the Cpu did back flips over and over and over. I reset the program, and the second time through I didn't have any problem.
For competitive mode, it's easy to rush the opponent and kick them over and over. The kick is really good. After seeing how short the range of the punch was, I only ever used kicks.
For arcade, this is the most fun part right now. Juggling all the CPU characters while trying not to get hit, while fairly easy, was enjoyable.
The controls felt fine. My only complaint is that I wish I could remap kick, punch and change direction to mouse clicks. Also, I wish the dash input counted as the forward input required for punching and kicking. So often I would dash forward just to stand there and be punched/kicked by an NPC because you have to dash -> press forward -> kick instead of dash -> kick.
Thanks for giving the demo a try. I haven't seen that player bug before but I'll definately take a look where it went wrong. The AI is an area I still need to improve on and I have seen it get stuck in the corner at times. Hopefully I can improve the difficultly too because it can be very each to win currently.
