I ended up playing this for quite a while. The basic loop of pouncing on people, scaring them into dropping candy, and collecting enough to clear the round worked really well for me.

I liked how the light hazards affected that loop. Between people moving around with flashlights and the fixed streetlights and jack-o’-lanterns, there was plenty to pay attention to while going after candy. The heat building up when you’re exposed gives you a reason to keep moving and find your way back into the shadows.

The different layouts and NPC paths helped give the rounds some variety. I also liked the choice of three upgrades between rounds. That added a roguelite feel and gave me something to look forward to after reaching the candy target.

I played with a controller, and that experience was really smooth. The controls worked comfortably, and I didn’t encounter any bugs, errors, or slowdowns during my session. It felt well put together.

The art style was another strong point for me, and the audio worked well throughout. Scaring people out of their Halloween candy while trying to stay out of the light is a fun premise, and the game makes good use of it.
