Design Statement
Our team interpreted the theme track as bringing about calming emotions with a sense of exploration. We noted that it started mechanically then grew towards a magical space, including a light and airy atmosphere, while the mechanical audio continued in the undertones of the track. The instrument delays also conveyed a gentle propelling through a world. We also noted that there was a general theme of progressing and growing throughout the entire track.

Following on from this, our team decided to focus the emotional themes to growing, through art and music across the game. We leaned heavily into vertical movement mechanics to emphasise this in gameplace, allowing the player to jump with a lightness and eventually fly. The art and music style starts as earthly and moves into a more mystical setting, with the setting, world objects and the player themselves changing and growing with the world.

CRESCEND
A mixtape clicks. Close your eyes and immerse yourself into a vertical soundscape of discovery and transformation as you scale the world of your mind as a dandelion. Be one with your inner self and recover what you once thought lost.

Enjoy this floaty platformer of vertical prowess. You begin as just a spec…or, er, a dandelion tuft, climbing out of a crevice, and as you climb and explore the world, you grow and ascend into the sky as something unusual.
