Design Statement
Upon hearing the theme track, our first impressions were sense of mechanical stability in moving forward, a hint of playfulness, adventurousness and loneliness. The imagery we came up based on this was a dreamy, child-like journey into a dark, deep space.
We began to envision the adventure unfolding through different phases and environments. A small, shy creature cautiously look for its playground, having fun, and then somewhat abruptly resting, waiting for its next turn to play. From this, we developed the concept of a dreamy underwater adventure in an undiscovered world, experienced through the eyes of a mysterious little creature. Like the unfamiliar world surrounding it, the creature is uncertain and hesitant, then slowly discovers the mystical beauty of the lights reflecting upon itself.

The visuals look phenomenal, I really love all the small animation choices like how the character will occasionally spin around to face the camera and the sequences at the beginning and end look amazing for a 2 week project.

The only critique I have is the amount of effort put into the art to make the game feel soft and relaxing felt downplayed by some of the jarring cuts in music and sprites (the soft piano melody suddenly cutting off on the border between sections felt kinda scary like it was going to turn into a horror game lol) and also some of the background elements like the ring of turtles when you reach the big open section would spawn and vanish quite visibly. I think it'd be really cool if there were some nice fade-in's and fade-out's to make the game feel softer and hit the vibe that the art and animation really nailed

Other than that though you guys did fantastic, very compelling and very lovely to play!

This is so cool and inspiring! Never thought of using depth in a vertical way, the 2d 3d environment looks so natural and beautiful, it's so well-thought out. Love how you made it look like the water is endlessly deep. Too bad I can't enjoy it on a full screen though, the game window is so small for me haha. This is the kind of thing I'd really like on a full screen!
