Design Statement
Buzzkeeper is an emotional colony sim based on real behavioral research and climate prediction. Guide the last surviving honey bee hive to resist Colony Collapse Disorder, pesticides, and increasingly inhospitable weather. Can you keep your hive in balance, and raise a new queen before the frost?

The theme track evokes a melancholy industriousness that spawned this game concept instantly. The building hope of the theme’s drums corresponds to the bees’ cooperative expansion, while the melancholy of the orchestral arrangement corresponds to the long-term (((almost))) hopelessness of species survival in the face of climate change etc.

Using real research and science data adds another layer of solemnity to the experience. The fun of building and expanding your hive is always underlined with the gravity of real world threats.

I have to admit being a little overwhelmed by the mechanics, but this concept is so cool! I love that you used real data in your process, and the design of the hive is really nice.

Okay, this is really well done and complex! Congrats!

I felt slightly overwhelmed at the start with a big beehive and LOTS of bees. Would be lovely to have more step by step instruction in game so player phase in quicker!
But very interesting mechanics! Great work!

The game seems nice. It's not my prefered style those days, but I loved the game idea and the feeling. Congrats!
