It just seems so vague. What one person considers normal could make another person shriek in terror. Culturally offensive? Personally? Morally? Verbally?
I honestly can't imagine what kind of game would someone be planning to make in a jam like this that would raise such questions. I would just don't try to offend anyone, by common sense, and if someone says to me that what I did was offensive, I would listen, discuss and if it is the case, delete or change it. If you're in doubt maybe you can share with us what you are your ideas and we can think together if that would make another person "shriek in terror".
I believe you have a fair and valid point about "in a jam like this", cause it is just a simple, have-fun-making-things, but suppose I include iconography that I find appealing, but someone else feels that it's evil. At what level am I obligated to alter my art to accomodate one's sensibilites? Maybe the art I've created isn't for the person who is offended by it. I am not forcing them to engage with my artistic expressions, no matter how colorful. "Offensive" is entirely dependent upon the viewer. But if all games are political, to some degree, they are all philosophical as well.
Perhaps this is the 'wrong' forum for discussing these specific ideas, but I can't help but ask them when presented with the opportunity, because at the very least, maybe someone will engage in dialogue and be opened to a new perspective whilst helping me to understand theirs.
Ideally. Lol. I live in fantasy land... I like you, pedroMz. We are conversing. :D If you know of a better section to discuss these things, I would LOVE to be included.
