Moderator Browntul here. Congratulations on finishing your game prototype!

Like the last iteration of this jam, I will be playing your games from My First Game Jam: Summer 2022 on my Twitch stream (twitch.tv/browntulstar). The dates that I will be playing the games will be announced at a later date (probably the week of July 24th, Pacific Time Zone)

Here's what you need to do if you would like me to play your game on my stream:

  1.  Post the itch.io link to your game as a reply below. (Do not direct-message me as it will not work).
    1. Your game must be submitted to this iteration of My First Game Jam.
    2. Make sure it can be played as either a Windows executable (exe) or as a web game for a desktop web browser.
  2. Add the title and a brief description/pitch of your game in your reply.
  3. Credit all your game's contributors.
  4. Indicate whether your game is suitable for all ages or not, and if there are adult themes that would otherwise make your game not rated PG-13.
  5. Include what time zone you are in so that I can try to group together games from similar regions into one stream. (Don't worry if you can't make it- the vods will be available afterward).
  6. (Optional) Like in the post-jam playtesting thread, you can put a list, questions, or description of what you would like critique on.

Example

  1.  Guzman Home Run Derby. Hit all the home runs with your friends from Guzman's family and friends!
  2. https://browntulstar.itch.io/guzman-hr-derby
  3. Browntul, Guzman
  4. Suitable for all ages (no mature content, no gore)
  5. Pacific Time Zone (PDT)
  6.  I'd like an opinion on the one-touch mechanics as well as the physics of the swing. And also I want to know if the DLC store is priced well!

Note that I will not be able to play all games for various reasons, including if there are too many submissions below. Sorry about that! But you are also free to play other jammers' games. Use the #promo channel on Discord to promote your game.

I will update this post with the list of games next week, on Saturday, July 23rd. I'll be dedicating about 20 minutes to each game. For each game session, I will try to speak out loud what I am thinking at the moment and try to identify the goals of the games and the main game mechanics. After each stream, individual Twitch vods will be available so that you can watch it again at your own time.

I can't wait to play your games! See you all soon.

Run Away, a top-down arcade style game. Avoid the enemies, collect points. See how many you can get! My first game! made solo. No adult themes or any of that. UTC-8:00.

Let me know if its fun! No music and very little art, so I'm only looking to know if the gameplay itself is fun. Also, let me know if it's too difficult. Feedback I've had so far has suggested that it might be.

1: Gobs - A galactic representation of the game many of us played when we were younger, Pogs.

2:  https://dreamaise.itch.io/gobs It was supposed to be a webgl but after severe difficulties I had to go windows.exe.

3: Adam Price

4: Suitable for all ages however it is gambling. Score is  not currently working so, is it really gambling? haha

5: Mountain Standard Time

6: The theme was heal and with my theme chosen ahead of time I could only adapt. The atmosphere and visuals is where I tried to drive home the heal aspect. Effort made to try and make it as comforting as I could should you just be on the mend yourself.

I ran out of time in so many ways so I will list known issues. Settings volume and pitch not working. Playfield missing in battle 1. Fade transitions not working.  Battle states and the separation of players enemy's turn not working. No animations for player or enemy turn. And many more I'm sure as this is my first ever game. Oh and stated above total gobs won score is not working again...

What I had to chop because of my inexperience and time constraints. Inventory, click to drag to said inventory, slam / players turn / enemy's turn animations. Pause menu.

  1. Banana Break In! In a nutshell, a 6ft Banana wielding an AK-47 asks you, the protag, for a romantic date. Things obviously go wrong.
  2. https://undragoncolorado.itch.io/banana-break-in
  3. undragoncolorado/Joanabin!/M3tabble  (https://m3tabble.carrd.co/)/ Islit/Chadow/firespark27/
  4. The game is a horror comedy. While it does not include any graphic content in the least, it does showcase creepy banana characters, an ocassional swear, and the implications of murder on one of the endings. Again, the game doesn't take itself seriously.
  5. Eastern Time Zone (EST)
  6. Let us know of the pros and cons (writing/art/music/etc.) so we can improve for future projects.
