You need to extract all game files before opening the VotV.exe, just right click the .7z file that you downloaded and choose 'Unpack here' or whatever it is called in program that you use to extract the files into current folder

7z. rar. is same format of file, you can easily unpack this

When using 7-Zip, you need to just right-click the file, select '7-Zip' and select one of three extract options:

When using WinRAR, everything is same except '7-Zip' replaced by 'WinRAR'

There is no "App" to play itch.io games. All itch.io games are delivered as seperate, independent programs.

There is an itch.io app that you can use to be able to download and update games automatically: /app
