I played the game five times, and in each run I explored different outcomes.
the visual design is simple, but great. the 3D + 2D graphics complement each other well. I really like the art direction—from the uncanny character designs to the dim environments... it’s unsettling and depressing in a way that sets the tone of the story.
I also had fun noticing the visual changes surrounding the protagonist as he walked his usual way home. I especially found it interesting how your choices affect the appearances/dialogue of each family member. I looove it when distortions happen ingame.
I don’t mind the repetition of the days, because it captures the life of a restrained, employed worker so well. the budget is tight, so the protagonist can’t afford any detours. you see all these messages from your family asking for money, and even when you try to prioritize what you deem important to pay, you inevitably end up neglecting something else.
you can feel the struggle of the protagonist because what you earn will never be enough to make everyone happy. and even if you somehow manage to do that, the question becomes: are you happy? is there anything left for you?
such realizations makes this story good to me. thank you so much for the experience, and congratulations to the team! 🙇🏻♀️
