Really appreciate that, glad the art and music worked for you!
Good point on note speed — definitely something we need to look into. And yeah, arrow keys not matching the note positions keeps coming up — DFJK or remappable keys would definitely feel better.
Appreciate the detailed feedback, glad it was still enjoyable overall!
Ha, “the band only lets me play the drums” might be my favorite description of that bug so far. You’re right that it’s unfinished — we just ran out of time before finishing the other tracks, so they check out early and leave you solo.
147,700 though? No clue what “good” looks like yet, but that’s a fun number to end up with. Really glad you liked it despite the mess!
Thanks so much, really glad that you liked the style.
Solid point on the countdown too — originally we wanted it to actually do something (like notes adding/costing time), not just be a clock ticking down till the game ends, but we didn’t get far enough to build that out so right now it’s just a timer.
And yeah, same issue others were talking about — drum track’s the only one we fully finished, so the rest run out of notes early instead of lasting the whole song, hence the “just drums then nothing” situation.
Also really like the messing-up feedback idea that you mentioned. I think that it would add another layer to the game to make it more enjoyable. Definitely on the list if we come back to it.
Thanks for the thorough breakdown, super useful, and glad you had fun with it anyway!
Glad you liked the artwork! And that's not a bug, just an "unfinished" situation, unfortunately — the drum track was the one we fully built out, and the other instruments were rushed together after, so they cut out early instead of running the full song.
Really like the ZXCV suggestion too — a straight row like that would definitely be easier to hit than the arrow keys, especially compared to trying to contort one hand across them. Good idea to keep in mind if we revisit this. Thanks for playing!
Thanks so much for such a detailed comment, really appreciate it!
Glad the art and music hit, and that you picked up on what we were going for with the four-instrument mapping — that was very intentional. And yeah, you're spot on about the controls. The Beatmania comparison makes a lot of sense — arrow keys not lining up with the tracks and being awkward on one hand was just a mapping choice we didn't think through enough, especially once all four tracks go off in different rhythms. That plus the drum track being the only one we actually finished (hence the dropout you noticed) made things a bit rough. First rhythm game for us, so still very much learning!
We'd definitely love to build out the lore more too — the idea is it's the band's last ever concert together, so there's a lot of room for some bittersweet story beats between songs about why that is. Didn't get the time to bring that in this round, but it's high on the list if we come back to it.
Really appreciate the feedback, this is exactly the kind of thing we'd want to fix if we come back to it.
Haha, no drummer hate here. The drum track was actually the first one we built, and the only one we had time to fully implement and test properly. The other tracks got put together in a bit of a rush afterward, so they end early instead of really functioning the way they should. We definitely would need more time to finish them off, but are happy with what we managed during the jam.
