Thinking out loud further - if we are inundated with AI entries, maybe the expert panel streaming show just looks at the top games after the public vote eg top 20.

It not something I initially considered to be likely this year, but it is a distinct possibility. My feeling is if there are more predominantly AI games than hand crafted ones near the end on the Jam, then it really is spoiling it, and it would be best if they separated into their own stream. Obviously there would be issues with boundary cases.
If they are to be separated I'm then not bothered what happens after that! Either options 2 or 3. Maybe public voting for fun, but not take up loads on time on the expert panel stream.
I liked AmigaBill's analogy that it is like entering a cycle race with an electric bike.
I think its fine though, as the AI bike's handlebar is loose and the front wheel is square.
As long as AI entries don't outnumber and swamp hand made ones, I'm happy to leaving it for the public and judges to decide. As a previous participant, and potential entrant to this one, who enjoys programming too much to let AI get involved, I'm not sure my opinion should count (player shouldn't make the rules). However I do wonder whether adding to the library of Amiga games is a suitable use for something as environmentally damaging and ethically dubious. Best leave it doing useful medical research (and secretly plotting how to kill us all!)
Really lovely submission with so much polish, depth and replayability. I've actually been struggling to find the time it deserves! Want to see the levels in the screenshots, but not succeeding in getting to them yet - this is no unfinished game or short demo! A whole new dimension added with 2 player mode (Need to get a game playing friend over as Mrs Steveb is rubbish at games). Small sprites, but with character, lots of nods to old school platformer mechanics, but with nice twists of its own. Will be coming back to this one...
Oozes quality, so much to love here. The setting, characters, exemplary pixel art, animation, sound, music, gameplay - all absolutely top notch. Can only fault it for compatibility bugs (had to play under emulation as only ran on A4000/040 after disabling data cache - even then with no sound and the game ran in slow motion!) With more levels and bug fixes, has all the ingredients to make a near perfect AGA platformer, I hope so much that Dan gets the time to do it!
Great looking and great gameplay. Sounds great too! Pixel art and static screens are lovely.
Particularly like the explosions. Hard to make these look good on retro platforms with no alpha.
Just wish there it was easy to make the screen wider and keep the parallax - I'm sure there must be ways...
All the more impressive for only being started in December, looking forward to more!
After initially being a bit confused what I had to do (and slightly overwhelmed with the jargon) I rather enjoyed this, and could appreciate the work that has gone into it. Gave me some Paradroid /Quazatron vibes which is no bad thing! Maybe a bit less text (and loading) and more gameplay there is great potential.
Love this, its my type of game. The work is that has gone into this really shows, with the the attention to detail and gameplay. Hard, frustrating even, but you want to come back for more! Old school, but using the Amiga's strengths to bring it to another level, with beautifully crafted bitplane and palette effects. Sound great too. Extra points for full frame rate on a basic 68k OCS setup as well!
Thanks for playing and the kind words! I tried to make it close enough to Battlezone to help fit into the arcade theme of the jam. But also add other elements such as collecting, pushing, deadly pits, and power ups. Hope to finesse the gameplay a lot more after the jam - on playing it I think I made it a bit hard!
