Let me check my notes from the positive comment minigame: "Lovely." "Vibes".
JK. Wow lot of little games here, this was a lot to make! I had fun and played it through twice. I never could get it so that I could open two tasks at a time, they always sat on top of each other and I couldn't move the window. Other than that it was a fun time!

Thank you, the thought of her playing it one day made me mushy inside :)
The site was actually listed on the GMTK Jam site under assets, and I found it there! It was a life saver, I don't really do 3D modeling and I was using this jam to learn Unreal. I don't know anything about whoever creates the site but I'm happy to learn more!
I beat him! I love me some good old fashioned turned based boss battles - impressive you built a system for a game jam! It was interesting how I didn't know who I'd get every time and it would change my strategy, and how my focus was on weakening him when I could. I think you could add more feedback ('juice') - I'd love to see characters flash or shake when attacking or being attacked, animations, sound effects etc. Sometimes I didn't know exactly what was happening and it would help communicate that, and take an already strong idea up a level. Great job!
I only clicked on this game for the name and so I could yell OAHAHAHAHA in the comments (which someone has already done, alas).
What I didn't expect was to find a really deep fun DNA sequencing puzzle game. I feel a little like the timers need adjusting, I was never able to sequence all 5 viruses before everyone died - but I really enjoyed this gameplay and would play more. Great!
Wow, I really loved this, one of my favorite narrative pieces. I think the reading on a timer was great for telling the story - like I was going through a flash of painful / cringy thoughts. I never got the full story but I didn't need to, these flashes were enough. I know some people had issues with the dialog timer but it felt very good to me, like not finishing it was the point. But I also read pretty fast so there might be some adjustment there. Thank you for this game!
I definitely think breaking up dialog with interaction helps - more minigames, but also maybe if I could walk around and choose who to talk to? I’d love to explore the backstage. I do also think with scriptwriting it’s typical to iterate and see what you can cut or reduce down without losing the story. It’s not fun, it’s called “killing your babies” for a reason, but it’s part of it. Good luck!
This is exactly how I set up for a show with my band - yeet my guitar under heavy boxes in the van, and then stack stage props on whatever boxes we find and pray it doesn't fall.
Joking, this was a fun setup, loved doing a story about stagehands. I enjoyed the mix of narrative and minigame, I especially liked the lighting minigame. I did feel the dialogue pacing dragged just a bit, it could probably be trimmed a little bit and still tell your story and themes. Just a nitpick for polishing. Good job!
Neat spin on the deck building genre! Surprisingly straightforward to get. did run into the same problem others mentioned of not having enough ways to gain attack power throughout - maybe cards that give a permanent boost to your starting power? I also wasn't certain if there was a reason to fight, I did a run where I pretty much ran past everything, got to the bottom, but it didn't seem to recognize I'd made it. I was just missing off screen. So yeah, maybe a bit of balancing is needed, but really did enjoy the gameplay loop!
Thanks for the reply - I actually did get that! I just really struggled with it, and I really like rhythm games. I couldn't find the correct key fast enough - usually in rhythm games you see them coming before you actually have to hit them, and it's not randomized so you can memorize complex patterns. I feel like if I had to just hit one or two keys correctly (and not 8) like the dodging minigame I could have been more successful, and feel more like I'm punching which is a short move. This felt more like an advanced combo move I think. I hope that helps.
Nice start to what could be a very satisfying narrative experience, and congrats completing what you did! Taking on all of the art and music in a solo jam is hard! I would love to learn more about the forest character and why she's giving her life for the family, and what's happening in the world they're living in. There's a lot to build on here, keep going with it!
Congrats on completing your first jam game! I actually played it all the way through and enjoyed it, more than I have some much more polished games. You had creative ideas for each boss and they increased in difficulty which was really cool to see. I saw someone already mentioned the Juice video and that was my first thought as well -adding feedback - sound effects, flashes when an enemy is hit, knockback etc. will go a long way to improve what's already there. There's lots of great resources for free music and sound that'll help you out. You have a great start, keep going!
