That's a pity; it's hard to say, because the game IS admittedly quite tough either way. But I am still planning to work on a little update, now that I have gotten some feedback, so when I get around to that, I'll also look into a mac build! (just seemed scary without being able to test it properly...)

Thank you for checking it out anyway ~

This game showed me that I REALLY don't know words... but I still managed to make it through with a bit of trial and error, and DO really appreciate the idea and vibes, despite my small brain c:

Already loved the aesthetic of this from everything you posted on bsky, and can now confirm that it turned out beautifully. Absolutely amazing atmosphere, just from the audiovisual presentation alone. Just wish there was an option to change camera sensitivity, because the game was honestly kinda hard to control for me (both with controller and M+K) :')

Didn't detract from it being a really nice little experience though. A lot of the writing was very relatable; well, some of it for obvious reasons, but other parts in very oddly specific ways too. Personally, I'm planning to finally play Style Boutique(/Style Savvy) soon, because that was a game I wasn't allowed to get as a child, grrr... yeah. Better late than never, is all I can tell myself.

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm very glad you had fun!

It is a pity that you could only get to the first piece of story. It was very tough to balance around how quickly different players might improve... in some cases, I worried that the final goal being 50k was too easy!

The way the story progresses is too intertwined with the gameplay that I'd want to change how it works here, but the risk of not all players being able to see large portions of the story is definitely something to keep in mind for future projects, so I very much appreciate your perspective here c:

Nawww, just had a shitty couple of days and this really cheered me up to read. I'm so glad you liked it this much!!!

It's the first track on this album: https://loyaltyfreakmusic.com/music/melting-rejuvenation-live-at-vaporwave-alive...

Thanks for reading c:

Thank you for your really fucking cute comment!! /gen Glad you enjoyed it ~

Thank youuu, it means a lot!

Used a bunch of tracks from this for my Toxic Yuri VN Jam submission! Thanks a lot for the awesome music <3

(1 edit)

I feel like VN devs are constantly disincentivized of actually using the medium for what it could be. No, don't use forced pauses, those could be annoying! No, don't autoplay, what if someone misses a line? Oh, you NEED backroll, or else players would need to reread the whole thing just to go back to an earlier moment! Make it as comfortable of a read as possible.

Obviously, Noise Jam by its very nature encourages the opposite, but I love seeing it put to the extreme. Literally unreadable lines, text going by so fast that you're likely gonna miss at least half of it with no way to check what it said. Text becomes less something that everyone merely follows along until the entire story is experienced (/until all the content has been successfully consumed), and more of a vehicle for abstract feelings and vague hints of a narrative, beyond what sound and art can offer. People experience the same story differently, not through going through choices in different orders, but simply through looking at different parts of the screen at different times.

Perhaps this is more of a moving (flowing?) painting than a novel, but it's a really fucking cool display of what the medium can be used for either way. Even if this only works for very specific kinds of expression, I would love to at least see more elements of this in more "traditional" VNs.

In summary: I'm a pretentious piece of shit and don't know how else to express that I liked this a lot.

Ahh, thank you so much, I never knew that! Should be adjusted now ~

I know this game is meant to be replayed "several times", but I really can't bring myself to disobey Kataja, oh god...

Very much enjoyed my two playthroughs though, despite finding them much more wholesome than toxic. I might just be weird, however!

this is so gay /pos

I certainly like the name, at least.

Haha, let's read a little autism VN :)
Wait, why does she have my inner monologues...

Game itself is a lot of fun and making drawing on the map a mechanic really surprised me and fits SO well! If anything, it's a little sad to see how the northern half of the map is basically entirely unused.
But yeah, like others have said: holy shit, the forced delay between messages!!! Especially painful when you need three attempts to beat the game (sounds like a skill issue) :')

My space bar is REALLY loud.

no (she's mine)
