Hi! This looks amazing and so lovely! I'm thinking of doing this w some students as an end-of-term activity! Any possibility of community copies coming back soon?

Hi! Want to try this out as an end-of-term activity with my students! Any chance of some more community copies?

Wanted to come back and report on how this went with my students in my Creative Writing class...

Everyone was gushing about how this was the best activity we ever did. We tweaked it a little with the kids so that they could finish it within lesson time... but a real hit with the kids - especially with boys! So obsessed with the idea of becoming a weapon.

For the lesson, we went ahead with the designing of the artefact and having them think through and map out their own histories and traits... but we turned it into a more structured writing session by giving them some options on how to present their creativity, e.g. "Write the final scene of when you crumble to dust... Were you destroyed by Nature or Man?", "Imagine that you've been placed in a history museum as an exhibit for future generations to admire. Write an information pamphlet / placard introducing yourself and your historical significance."

Normally the kids don't love informational reports and stuff, but they were so excited about this, and I quote: "this is way more fun that normal school work why don't we do this for actual exams as well"

An amazing experience all around!

I did something similar with my Creative Writing kids at school as well - except we just kind of freestyled and got them to just brainstorm off a blank page... and ended up with a Jurassic-era jungle world where dinos and humanoids coexist...in a human-supremacist society!!

Got some awesome stories out of it, but they struggled a bit with the mapmaking bit. So much respect for you gamemakers who churn out these full sets of rules and gamesheets! Took me an hour just to flesh out the parameters of worldmaking and powerpoint slides for my kids!

If you ever put in any more community copies, I'd love to give this a shot with my students!

Omg same here! Except I'm an English teacher in Hong Kong doing a Creative Writing program for my kids! Planning on doing the Artefact with my group soon as well. Did your kids have fun with Cartograph? Want to know if this should be the next one I introduce!
