I mean how would Eve eat Toriel twice? lol. Unless she escaped the first time or something and just forgave Eve I guess? Personally I think Hard Mode is probably only canon so much as Eve falling into The Ruins, meeting Toriel and arriving at her house. Not so much the eating Toriel in her chair part or the two extra routes. So Hard Mode is probably only canon on a very loose level.

Rather than boring everyone with more of my bullshit I'll just offer a plausible explanation for people who hold this viewpoint.

You could always just reason that Toriel gave Eve the sweater, Hard Mode is probably non-canon if canon is even a thing here. The description mentions that the monsters are "Crazy" in this version. So maybe Toriel is a little nuts and is coping by trying to pretend Eve is a child or something for reasons, making her wear the sweater and everything. Toriel being like "Stay in character!" lol I'm probably putting more thought into this than I should but fuck it.

I still think it was meant to be a joke line that people took seriously though.

I always just thought the line from MK about striped shirts was a throwaway joke line or something. I didn't know people honestly thought that meant that literally only children can wear stripes in the UT universe.

I'd be more inclined to believe it as something more than a joke if it was said or referenced by more than just one character who was relatively comedic in nature to begin with. (Unless I'm forgetting something...) I always just interpreted it as Toby poking fun at his own character designs rather than it being a serious lore thing.

(Plus, I think Eve's striped sweater is cute. So I'd be a little sad if they got rid of it.)

Same. I admittedly cheated to see the other endings besides the "bad" ones. It'd be nice if there was like a "Loser baby bitch mode" for people like me who suck shit at Undertale and just want to see the endings + the vore stuff without having to be good. Maybe it gives you more HP or DEF or something to make up for lack of skill without totally removing the gameplay entirely. (I know you can do that by just editing the save file but not everyone knows how to do that.)

Especially since if the future scenarios are gonna be harder as the dev claims there's no way I'm winning that shit. lol :(

Could always be a future update I suppose. Now that I think of it, you could just make it still count as the "Bad ending" since the outcome is technically the same where Toriel eats you. Could be a way to still get the bad ending without resetting if you somehow missed it the first time.

I hope if nothing else he adds more scenarios. Like, Eve Vs Undyne is something I could see happening, for example. Assuming they want to add more anyway. Or they start doing OC monsters or something instead which I'd also be fine with.

Love the game and hope to see more content, perhaps in the future. As an example, I intentionally lost during the fight where you're digesting Toriel and was kind of disappointed you just get a game over. Would be neat to have a 4th "Indigestion" ending or something where if you lose Toriel escapes and eats you like in the bad ending. Maybe she insta-churns you for having the nerve to try and eat her like Muffet does if you manage to "Beat" her. That's just my stupid idea though.

It gave me the "Escape" ending the first time but then got the bad ending bug every time afterward.
