Hi!! I just finished the demo and loved it so much that I immediately rushed over here to leave a comment!

English isn't my first language, so please forgive me if there are any strange grammar mistakes ><

Wow. I could say that OVERD0SE is one of the most memorable games I've played in the past few years. Thank you so much for all the time, effort, and love you've put into it!

!! There will inevitably be [SPOILERS] below, so please be warned !!

Story & Characters

(including sprites, CGs, and art)

Having Rhea and Milo around always made me feel strangely safe.

And of course, Evren.

You have to understand: I am EXTREMELY bad with jumpscares, seriously, ridiculously bad. But Evren, bro, your face is simply way too pretty, so I kept playing while being terrified at the same time.

And then I realized—you were actually such a huge surprise.

The writing combined with the effects used for the choices does a really good job of building him into a surprisingly complex character.

Everything that happened to him during his childhood and adolescence seems to have left a permanent mark on him: his close relationship with his mother, his father's absence, his past relationship with Vanessa (Vanny??), briefly(?) meeting MC during their school years, Vanny disappearing(?), going to medical school and later getting expelled, supplying medication to Rov and the others... and then, up to the current point, MC ending up in the hospital.

I feel like MC's line—

“You care more about having me than understanding me.”

IS an incredibly accurate way of describing him (for me, at least).

His love seems to contain genuine affection for the person he loves, of course, but perhaps even more importantly, he needs the fact that 'the person he loves needs him'.

And he seems deeply, almost pathologically afraid of losing access to them—of no longer knowing what is happening to them, or even losing control over whether someone important to him lives or dies.

I'm VERY CURIOUS to see where his story goes from here.

Music / Sound Design

It always manages to appear at exactly the right moment and...

scare the hell out of me.

I mean that as a compliment!! It fits everything extremely well!

Random details I didn't know how to categorize but REALLY liked

1/On the title screen, Evren's eyes seem to follow the mouse cursor(?) and hovering over Quit gives him an extra little pleading animation. It's so cute ww

2/There is Morse code on the game's download page and on Vanessa's character introduction page. Cool. I enjoy decoding!

3/After asking questions related to Vanessa on Day 7, there was that video of what looked like a real-life bathroom sink or washbasin. I really liked the visual experience there—it felt very fresh and unusual.

4/Oh, and how could I forget Aftercare, which accompanied me through most of the game! It genuinely helped a lot with calming down my fear and anxiety after some of the more intense parts.

5/Just like the description says: choices really matter. There are SO many branches...

6/AH! And! I don't remember which day this happened on, but there was a part where we had to convince the “doctor,”and one of the questions was something like: “What do you think is the most important part of a person?”

My instinctive answer was immediately “their memories”, but just then I remembered that MC's own memories are currently an absolute mess.

I don't really know how to explain it, but that realization suddenly hit me really hard =w=

A few small things I wanted to mention!

There is one issue I've consistently had with the current version of the game: I can't see anything in History. Whenever I open it, the page is completely blank qaq

Because of that, if I stop playing for a little while after finishing a section, it's difficult to quickly remind myself what happened before, and sometimes I end up replaying part of the game just to reconnect with the story.

I also have two very small suggestions for the minigames:

It would be really nice if there were a save opportunity—or maybe a small tutorial—before the work minigame (day1 with Rhea).

During the game with Evren, could the rolled value also be displayed as an Arabic numeral? I sometimes found it a little difficult to immediately tell what number I had rolled.

Anyway, I had an amazing time with the demo, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where the story goes next!! Thank you again for making this game <3

hey, maybe you can try this:

find path "game/archive.rpa" and  extract it with unrpa. Then go to "game/screens/other_screens.rpy" and open in a text editor, press "ctrl + F" to search "if not hasattr(persistent, "cg_unlocked"):" this line, change it to "if persistent.cg_unlocked is None:"

That fixed the startup error for me :) hope this can help(???

AAAA—this is absolutely a masterpiece! I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!!
I’m a little too excited, just let me start from this!

UI design, page layout, and font choices are all so pleasing to the eye. They made it incredibly easy to stay immersed in both the story and visuals.
Next, the music, sound effects, and scene direction—they all blended so well into the atmosphere. The background music was perfectly chosen for each moment, and the sound effects—like opening/closing doors or whispering voices—really deepened the sense of immersion. (Some of the daily-life tracks felt like old friends to me, haha, still wonderful to hear! The door sound effect when leaving the King’s room startled me the first —I thought it was a scream, oops...  My favorite BGM is the one that plays during the journey—so relaxing and soothing.)

The text effects, like the shifting between white and red or the glitch-style distortions, were also used to convey danger and tension. I was scared =w= but  better than a jumpscare...

Now onto the characters—they are so well drawn! Delicate and beautiful. I was especially impressed by the Old King’s eyes during those oppressive scenes with the protagonist, and Anselm’s expressions—his subtle smirk when he’s happy or angry were just unforgettable.

Finally, the story itself—I saved this for last because it’s the part I loved the most.
With just a few strokes, you set up the world and the protagonist’s current situation clearly and effectively. The tone, the atmosphere, and the protagonist’s goal are all well established from the beginning. The characters—King Anduin, Anselm, Clyde, and the mysterious ???—are vivid and full of life.
Beyond the above amazing contents, what surprised me even more was how Choices that matter actually meant what it said! The protagonist’s decisions genuinely impact the story’s direction. I originally intended to collect all the content, so I saved at each choice point and tried out different options—and wow, I didn’t expect so many branching paths and new texts! Now I’m completely hooked and incredibly curious about what’s going to happen next.

Thank you so much for this demo! Wishing you the very best for the rest of the development—you’ve already created something amazing! ❤️❤️

Hey~ Although I don’t know if the author will add non-typing type interaction later... if your keyboard doesn't work at all, you might look at the on-screen keyboard (virtual keyboard) (comes with Windows). I just tested that using the on-screen keyboard can also pass the first night! And remember to turn to English mode before typing ^^

(1 edit)

Hey tonight I got the ending2 ^^

I haven't tested all combinations of options but I think the following two options may affect your chances of getting to ending 2

[ Spoilers ]

Last two options were selected respectively: 'I still have my doubts' and 'you're where you belong'

That's really impressive! UI setup so eye-catching, sound effects are really detailed (I especially love the meowing sound when clicking on the keychain(? on the right side of the main menu, plus the typing-like sound during the dialogue display). Also the background music fits the atmosphere perfectly !!

The beginning quiz, the game intro animation, and the RPS with Adi -- everything is so finely crafted!

And then the demo's ending! omg! Stopped at an unexpected point, that's so gripping cant wait to see what's happening lol

*Felt a little bit sorry but I really like hovering over the 'quit' option, clicking it and then backing out(

Lastly, one tiny issue! When accepting Adi's team invitation, it seems that right-clicking to enter the save page automatically declines the invitation?

Yes, those 2 CGs are related to the Bad Ending! But since I haven’t played this route for a long time, I only reply to you based on my memory. Still hope that can help you TT

[SPOILERS]

The fastest way to complete this route should be in Week45, choose "Admit I feel the same way about him, but.." and then choose "Yes, we will deal with it once the time comes"

(If I remember correctly, it should be in the forest, with Darryl and MC intertwining their fingers in the background?)

[SPOILERS]

--

Before you answer his question, you can focus on his words above, especially those capital!!

But if you need, here we are: Ronin Beaufort

Hope it helps you (づ ̄3 ̄)づ╭❤~

[SPOILERS]

--

When he came to see you, you had two choices,{Kiss him}/{Kill him}. Different choices led to different endings! But I'm not sure if preconditions are needed: when you are asked to choose {talk to Angle} or {Confront Ronin}, choose the latter one, and correctly find out Ronin's real name. Hope it helps you!

Well because press 'ignore' will automatically lead you to choose 'stay at Ren's home' and get the BAD END. Therefore I delete all the saving files and found out this problem solved. Hope this can help you!
