I will keep your request in mind for future packages, thank you for sharing your ideas!

Hi! I can confirm that the current bundle will expire in about 20 hours.
With the upcoming update, all missing content will be added, and the price will increase accordingly.
If you are interested, I recommend purchasing it now: this way, you will lock in both current and future content at the current, much more favorable price.
I hope this clarifies everything.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Hi there! :) Great question, let me break it down for you.
The Legacy version was actually my very first experience with pixel art and asset creation.
Back then, since I hadn't planned out a future for the series yet, I put a bit of everything into a single pack: characters, weapons, explosions, and environments.
Later on, as I started expanding this world, I felt the need to split the content to make it much easier to manage and use.
That's how this specific pack was transformed and expanded to focus exclusively on environments.
I decided to keep the Legacy version available so the people who bought the original pack wouldn't lose access, while giving them the chance to download all the new material for free.
To answer your question directly: yes, I definitely recommend using the current version, as it has been heavily refined and expanded over time!
You can think of the Legacy version a bit like an old box found in the attic—if you have the time and feel like digging through it, you might still find some cool little gems in there (like the old characters or animations).
I hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions :)
(A quick side note: I actually meant to keep the Legacy version online only temporarily so old users could grab the updates, and then delete it to avoid confusion. Of course, I completely forgot about it until today! I just took the opportunity to finally remove it, so it looks like you were the very last person to ever see it!)
Hi!First of all, thank you very much for purchasing my assets and for choosing to use them in your game!
I’m happy to answer your questions:
Yes, Barely Apes and Barely_Games refer to the same author. The EULA applies to all the asset packs I have published on itch.io.
- Yes, exactly. You are free to modify and adapt the sprites to fit the needs of your project, including changing their colors and sizes. Regarding resizing, the only thing I would suggest is paying attention to pixel quality and visual consistency, but this is more a matter of the game’s overall visual style and is not a limitation imposed by the license.
- Yes, you are allowed to use the assets, modified or unmodified, as part of a commercial game. The only restriction is that the assets must not be distributed as standalone files or in a way that allows them to be reused independently from the game. So you can safely include them in your final game build.
- Yes, this type of use is also allowed. In modern software development, the use of AI tools as programming assistants has become a common practice, and this is not the type of use that the license restriction is intended to prohibit. The AI-related restriction is primarily intended to prevent my assets from being used to train AI models for the creation of new assets or other content.
I hope I’ve answered all your questions clearly!
And if you’d like, I’d be very curious to see your game once it’s finished. Feel free to share the project here when it’s ready!
Thanks again for your support, and good luck with your roguelike!
Knowing that you are about to start working on the spider sprites, I decided to get ahead of schedule and complete the conversion into spritesheets right away. The files are already ready to download.
You won't find the cumulative version we talked about just yet, but I hope this still helps speed up your workflow. Let me know if everything looks good and if the files work correctly!
Thank you! I've already started working on the catapult and, at the same time, I'm implementing spritesheets for all the character animations.
At first, I didn't think spritesheets were that important. But now, with thousands of sprites, I realize it's absolutely necessary to optimize the project and reduce the number of files. The spritesheet version will be available alongside the current frame-by-frame format, so everyone can choose whichever option they prefer.
Let me know if you find this update useful! Talk to you soon!
Hi, it was a pleasure having this conversation and I think it was very constructive. In the future, I plan to use the launch period specifically to benefit long-time supporters who want to continue backing my work.
As for new packs, I am currently considering a request for siege weapons like catapults, trebuchets, and ballistas. Down the road, I would also love to expand the world further by working on swamps and caves.
If you have any specific needs, please don't hesitate to ask; I always prefer working on something the community actually wants.
Thanks again and soon!
Hi, thank you so much for writing to me. Your message is a great opportunity to clarify how my packs transition from the launch offer to the subsequent discount, and finally into the bundle.
My initial idea was this:
- Launch offer (30% off): Designed mainly for those who don't know Pixel Quest yet and want to try out the assets with a small incentive.
- Subsequent discount (50% off): Dedicated to long-time users who have supported the project from the beginning (in fact, it usually only applies to those who already own a previous pack).
- Inclusion in the Bundle: After an initial standalone period, the packs automatically become part of the Pixel Quest Bundle, so that everyone who already owns the bundle can get them for free.
I completely understand your point of view and I am truly sorry for what happened. I realize this approach might have left a bitter taste in your mouth and for other early supporters. To fix this right away, I have decided to immediately change the discount for previous pack owners, raising it to 90% off.
For those who already own the complete Bundle, I suggest waiting just a few days: the new content will be integrated shortly and will be available for free.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Feedback like yours is essential to help me improve and rethink my discount strategy for the future.
Yes, I can confirm that they would have been included in the bundle anyway. Just to let you know, I will be releasing a new pack soon: if you don't need it right away, it will be integrated directly into the bundle after a little while. Also, the next update will bring spritesheets for all characters. I hope you find them useful! Thank you so much for the valuable support you are giving to this project.
Hi! Thank you very much for purchasing the asset pack and for your kind words — they really mean a lot to me!
Actually, I’ve been thinking for some time about expanding the asset pack by adding more directions for the characters. Most likely, the first update will include northeast (NE) movement, providing greater visual variety right away.
As you may have noticed, in this series the weapons are separate from the characters. Introducing full 8-directional movement also means having to handle the rotation of the weapons and their correct position on the Z-axis. I first need to study the best technical solution for this before starting the actual production. The update with the NE view, on the other hand, does not present this issue, which is why it will almost certainly be the first one to be released.
Thanks again for your valuable feedback, and good luck with your game!
Hi! Thank you so much, I'm really glad you like my work and that you're considering using it in your game.
As for the package development, I already have future expansions planned that will focus on new robots and alien creatures. I must admit I hadn't considered adding sci-fi fantasy elements until now, but your suggestion is a great idea and I'd love to develop something in that direction!
I can confirm that the license terms are exactly as stated: commercial use is permitted, and no attribution or credit is required. However, if you do decide to include me in the game's credits, I would be absolutely thrilled!
Thanks again for your support, and talk soon!
Thank you so much for looking into my request! Of course, please feel free to proceed however works best for you and your schedule. I was just curious, as my work computer's corporate policies prevent me from installing external .exe files. As soon as I have access to a personal computer, I will definitely try out the game. Thanks again for sharing your work here, and best of luck with the project!
