Hey, thanks for version 5! The “recent projects” feature is a total godsend, so thanks so much for that! 😎

I have a few more ideas and comments:

The config file isn’t saved globally, so I have to reconfigure everything from scratch with every new version. Plus, the recent projects always disappear, which is a bit annoying. Of course, you could solve this by keeping the filename consistent, so that as a user you can always overwrite the main executable, and the program uses the config files from the same folder. But I think this might cause new problems when you add new features? 🤔

Playing from a specific position in the “order list” with Shift+F2 is extremely handy, but unfortunately this doesn’t respect the order of the other channels when you use repeat commands like “Rx” or change the pitch in the order list, etc.

The default PLAY command (for the clickable button) should, in my opinion (and perhaps logically), be Shift+F1, so that the cursor follows the current playback position while playing. It might also be a good idea to bind Shift+F2 (play from cursor position) to right-clicking the PLAY button? Perhaps Shift + mouse click on the PLAY button could trigger the 'normal' F1 and F2 functions, where the song doesn't follow the position while playing?

Version numbers like V5 might be a bit confusing as you get to later versions. Now it feels like you're always starting over from scratch (v1.00, v2.00, v5.00, etc.) 🙃
Calling it GoatTracker Enhanced 1.05, etc., might look and feel better. But this is entirely optional, of course 😆

Here's an idea: if your cursor is in the “instrument” section and you click the RECENT button, you should be able to load recent instruments.

I’ve also noticed that if you accidentally resize the window by dragging the edges, the new size is saved even if you quit and restart. I have a hard time resetting it to its original size when that happens 🤣

Keep up  the great work! 😎

Hi! Thanks for the update. I use GoatTracker pretty intensively at times, and I think it’s a shame that “enhanced” versions are often abandoned (too) quickly. Probably because of the low feedback and small user base — since it’s obviously a pretty niche app. So I hope you’ll keep it up and give us useful features that the original GT lacks 😁

Anyway, I have a few comments: any settings other than the original 800x592 resolution cause the characters to display incorrectly. Maybe it would be better to set this to 800x592 by default for all users instead of 1000x720?

GoatTracker was clearly designed with keyboard users in mind. If you want to introduce mouse controls, as you’re doing now, it might be useful to have, among other things, PLAY/STOP buttons on the screen that can be controlled with the mouse. These could be placed at the bottom of the screen instead of GRAD and FX. These are GUI features that you turn on/off and leave alone, because you either like them or you don’t. So constantly switching between them might be unnecessary. If I may suggest one more addition: a “recent projects” feature would be nice, so you can quickly load your most recently opened projects 😎 Keep up the great work!

It looks great, but the controls are confusing me in a 'Denton Designs' kind of way 🤣

Done 😁

I see what you did there 😆

Thank you very much! I had no idea you're allowed to do this on a Itch.io page 😅

Can someone please explain how the rotating/floating screenshots on this page are done? 🤔 ... CSS?

Thanks for the game(s)! 💖

Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words, Richard! ❤

Works fine for me in VICE 🤔 https://vice-emu.sourceforge.io/

Thank you! ❤🐟💨

Thank you 😎

Thank you for this nice game! 🤩 Happy holidays!

Very nice 🐾 Thank you!

This game would've been some SERIOUS nightmare fuel if it was released in the eighties 🤣

Impressive! I had to look twice to believe this is really on C64! ;)

Saberman, if we ever have to go on a vacation trip together: I won't let YOU do the map reading 😂😂😂

I think it would be better if they would actually update when viewing the high-scores from the main menu, or at least always keep the updated scores in memory.

Nice solid game! It seems the high-scores are only loaded upon start-up, and not immediately after the initials being entered when getting a high-score?

edit: oh wait, I see I have to press F1 :)

edit 2: oh no... that removes them! :)

Thank you! :)

Rare to so a game translated in my native language, Tkjrhne. Thanks! Rated!

Thanks for the feedback! This game was made within three days, so I hope you understand I had to keep things simple :) I've tried to make the pixel size of the squares the same as the rest, but I didn't like it at all.

I like the graphics and presentation, but it's a shame there are no animations. The game itself was very confusing at times and a little bit of a hassle to me, but I had a good laugh :) Keep up the good work! Rated!

Nice Metroidvania with some good ideas. The controls/movement could've been a little tighter to my taste, but overall nicely done! Rated!

Very nice visuals and a daring entry for a game jam! The game bugged out on me in many ways, but if this is really made within a week then that's impressive ;) Rated!

This is a simple and fun game. Is it endless? It became a little repetitive after level 4 for me. The neon effect looks great. And whoever waxes the floors in the Neon Maze can come to my place anytime! ;) Rated!

Thank you for the feedback! :)

Nice polished puzzler. The used colors could've been a little more extreme (they feel more like pastel than neon to me). But overall, very good job! Rated!

A very bold project! The visuals could've been much more bigger, extreme and flashy with the neon-theme, and the presentation could've been a lot more polished. But, nice work! Rated!

This was a little too hard for me, I couldn't even get past one enemy! :) It reminded me of Hotline Miami. Keep up the good work! Rated!

Visuals, atmosphere and controls are nice, but most things act and look quite unfinished. Guess you didn't had time left to finish most of your ideas? Keep up the good work! Rated!

Okay, that was... short! :) This could turn into a fun adventure. Keep up the good work! Rated!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! :)

Thank you! :)

This game is very polished and fun in every way! Great job! Rated!

The idea worked (I played it without reading the instructions the first time and it felt quite intuitive immediately), but it's a shame that the graphics, unless I missed something,  don't go beyond 'programmer graphics'. Keep up the good work! Rated!

I really like the style and graphics of this game! It's a shame the 3D-effect made me very dizzy, so I had to stop way too soon :(

Keep up the good work! Rated!

LD Records and Neo Egg must be quite big companies to have so much buildings ;)

Nice shooter, although a little too much on the unforgiving hard side for me. Keep up the good work! Rated!

Well, it wasn't exactly boring; it was plain IMPOSSIBLE during the last stages, where there's no color anymore and you have to select the right gong by ear!

I kind of liked the IK+ ball-deflecting stages. If you keep up it gets crazier and crazier :)
