Hi there Dream Waver, thank you for joining the jam! Please see the email that was sent just a few minutes ago in regards to winners and how to begin redeeming prizes!

Hi there Dream Waver, thank you for joining the jam! Please see the email that was sent just a few minutes ago in regards to winners and how to begin redeeming prizes!

Sure, here ya go!

Hello! Was this supposed to be submitted to the game jam?

The theme this year is "Things That Go Bump"

How you interpret this will be entirely up to you. Maybe you want to focus on those classic monsters that go bump in the night, or maybe you want to do something a little out of the box like heartbeats or music. Regardless of how you want to interpret the theme, you will get a chance to explain how your game fits the theme when you submit it. Games that fit the theme, or at least have a Halloween feel to them, will be chosen over those that do not in instances of a tie.

Good luck and have fun!

Hello everyone!

In just under 24 hours the Haunted Halloween Game Jam will start.

How It Works:

The jam starts on October 2nd at 9am EST, and runs until October 18th at 11:59pm EST. You can see the exact time it starts in your timezone by going to the game jam page.

Tomorrow morning, we will start the jam by telling you the theme for this year. We will announce this theme via email, as well as post it on the game jam page on itch. Once you know the theme, you will be able to start making your game!

You can upload your game at any point during the jam, as well as update your game at any time. But once the submission closes on October 18th at 11:59pm, you cannot upload or update your game. All submissions will be closed–so please make sure you give yourself time to upload your game to itch!

Once the game jam is over, the voting period will begin. As mentioned on the game jam page, voting will look like this:

Judges will be voting on the following criteria to determine winners:

  • Gameplay: Are mechanics intuitive and satisfying? Does the game feel balanced and fair? How fun is the game to play?
  • Art direction: Is the art creative and of good quality? Is the art direction consistent? How does the art enhance the player's experience?
  • Use of sound: Are sound effects and music used appropriately? How clear and polished are the sound effects? Does the music and sound blend with everything else?
  • Use of theme: How strongly does the game connect to the theme? Is the theme central to the design? How creative was the interpretation of the theme?
  • Innovative: How unique are the gameplay mechanics and narrative elements? Were there any unexpected twists or fresh approaches on a familiar genre, gameplay mechanic, or story element?

Community Voting:

  • Participants are encouraged to play and rate other submissions during the voting period. Community ratings are for engagement and recognition only and have no effect on judging, prizes, or the official results. Official winners will be selected independently by our judging panel.

Judges will be given the week of the 18th to play the games and enter their scores and feedback. Once all judges have submitted their scores, the winners will be announced via email and itch. Information on how winners can collect their prize will also be included in that email.

If you have any questions, or are looking for last minute teams, please reach out to us here on itch or via our Discord (which you can access here).

Look for the email tomorrow announcing the theme! We are excited to see what you all come up with for the game jam!

Feedback is not exclusive to only the winners. If you reply to the email that was sent out last night asking for the comments, they can be sent over to you!

There was at least one member of the F3 Game Jam team who was rooting for Clock Block! Thank you for participating!

EDIT: We forgot to mention this in the email, but if you wish to recieve the comments left by the judges, please let us know via email!

Winners will be announced tomorrow during the festival and published here shortly after the public announcement at the fest.

Sorry this got missed yesterday, there was never a notification you responded. Anyways, upload it as a new game on your itch account and I will download it. Just let us know when it is uploaded!

Glad you had fun! We're having fun playing all of the games so far!

Hi nisea123, yes if you are able to upload your files to your game's itch page, please do so. Unfortunetly you will have to be DQ'd from the cash prizes, but we can at least still include you in things like the community votes

Hey everyone, the itch email system was down last night when the game jam ended, and is still down now. So I will post the email you should have recieved here instead:

Hello everyone and thank you to all who participated in the Field of Frames game jam!
We are now in the voting period where you all can play each other's games, offer feedback, and provide a rating for the itch community award. As mentioned before, there will be 2 other groups of voters, the panel of judges and the attendees of Field of Frames. All of the winners will be announced on Sunday (9/28) at the Field of Frames Fest.
Please remember that you cannot change your game now that the submission window is closed. Also please do not try to delete your game and reupload it, if you delete the game you will be unable to upload it, thus taking yourself out of any possibility of winning. With that being said, you can still change your itch page and add whatever screenshots, logos, text, etc. that you feel is necessary.
We can’t wait to play all of your games!
The F3 Game Jam Team

Thanks Jude, it is fixed!

Winners will be announced Sunday, the 28th during the Field of Frames Festival

Winners will have an opportunity to send us their correct information after everything has been announced

No, there are no plans to cancel the contest

Yeah, if you are the only submission I'd say you'd have a really good chance of winning first place.

Hey 001mostafa2012, I was able to confirm today that we will be able to send international prize money through Paypal.

As mentioned on the game jam page, how you interpret the theme is entirely up to you. You can take a literal approach, playing around with things or mechanics happening outside the visible screen. Or you might choose a more metaphorical or creative direction — maybe by breaking the fourth wall between the game and the player, or by crafting a mystery that focuses on what isn’t being shown.

These are just a few examples, but ultimately, how you choose to interpret 'Out of Frame' is completely up to you.

Yes, you can participate in the game jam solo if you'd like!

Hi there 001mostafa2012. I would assume we could send the money digitally, but let me check in with the part of the team that would be handeling that and find out for sure. And as for your question about AI, you will find in the FAQ section of the Game Jam the following:

Can I use assets created by someone else?
Yes, you may use assets created by someone else as well as assets generated by AI. Please make sure to credit the source of your premade asset somewhere in your game or game page

Glad you can join us OK_Dentro! Looking forward to seeing what you and everyone else makes!
