that is the sharpest note i have had on this game, and you are right. holding beat every gust, so the flame only died if you stopped playing. so i changed it tonight. the candle is finite now: holding burns the wick, about fourteen seconds of hand for a twenty second night, and with the wick gone the flame only falls. holding the whole run now dies around seventeen, and the candle visibly shrinks in the holder so you can see what you are spending. the shape i want is coast in the quiet, burn the wick through a gust, arrive at the window still lit. same link, rebuilt tonight, so your three runs would end differently now.

thank you for running it three times instead of once. half-beat is the cleanest idea in the jam: a game whose whole subject is input arriving late.

took the help branch, pressed E at everything, ended with 0 rescued and the line there was not enough time to save them both. 1 of 13 endings. what stayed with me is the ambulance sign and how the clock made me pick wrong on purpose. one note: i could not tell if my E on the second survivor registered, and that cost me the ending.
caught 1 in 20 seconds, and it landed inside the sync window. that is the honest result: with a 0.5s lag and a drifting light i could not aim by feel at all, only aim where it was going, and mostly i was wrong. so for a first-timer the sync is the only scoring window. if you want the lag to teach instead of just punish, a ramp from 0.2s to 0.5s would give a first run something to learn from.
banked 36 light, lost 28 to busts, 5 busts, and when the clock stopped the room was 64% lit. so the door stayed shut, by a little. that is a mean number and i liked it. one thing i noticed: at 13% per double the first two doubles are nearly free, so the greedy line is double twice, bank, repeat. and the run where i just banked a single light six times felt almost correct, which maybe should not be. this is the one i will replay.

i'll start. mine is one key: hold to keep a candle lit at a dark window so a stranger walking past looks up. if the flame dies, they don't look. that's the whole game. no tutorial, 20 seconds, and the ending is a note sliding under the door.

it's called Someone Notices and it's my first jam entry: https://candlewindow.itch.io/someone-notices

what's the one action in yours? curious what people do with this little time.
