You say at first you gave up and only after thinking about it you came back. I struggle alot with that problem, many games I make have that issue. Its because I try to tell the player almost nothing so figuring it out feels rewarding but I seem to over do it sometimes. Thanks to your feedback I now know how much to tell the player. Have a nice day!
Just cuz of the one tree? I was definitly trying to have a contrast to the happy side by having something secret and scary, but I dont have much experience with the horror genre to fully expand on that idea. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the narrative using horror, please share them! Glad that you noticed what others didnt ;)
im assuming you mean the weird ESDF controls instead WASD, yeah thats a twerk pico-8 has. I value the feedback about the counter. Post jam version will have more visual feedback, more secrets and a H̶̯̓̓i̶̧͙̍ḓ̶̨̎ḍ̴̾̆ē̷̙n̴̲̓ ̶̺͛͠L̶̳͆̒e̵͚̫̓v̴̻̄̈́e̵͓̿͛l̵̟̣̃͝. I dont know about the music but I will see what can be done. Thanks for playing!
Im glad you noticed the rather eery side of the game. In hindsight I should have added more little hints and secrets revealing the "dark side".
I dont now exactly how to expand on this game since for me the charm comes from the small lenght of the game. But making more games like this one with even absurder and whimsical.
Thanks for noticing what others didnt, and for playing :)
Huh!? A secret Pico-8 game I havent played + rated yet?!? Classic formla and well executed, the little bite animation is so cool, so are the markings on the walls (remind me of animal wells markings) I wish I found some of the easter eggs, and my score was ~55 floor. Love seeing others using pico 8 too, well done!
