I’m looking for a 2D Pixel artist to join a small indie game team for a long-term project. I’m the developer and game director, and I currently have a composer involved as well.
The game is inspired by Puerto Rican folklore and carnival traditions, combining elements of roguelite and life-sim games.
For the art direction, I’m aiming for a colorful and detailed pixel-art style with expressive characters, vibrant environments, and a warm, cozy atmosphere. The world will take inspiration from Caribbean landscapes and Puerto Rican culture, including colorful Spanish-influenced towns, tropical environments, festive carnival decorations, masks, and folklore-inspired creatures and characters. I’d love for the world to feel lively and handcrafted while still having enough detail and personality to make exploration exciting.
The project is currently using a revenue-share model, with the possibility of additional paid work or payouts if/when external funding becomes available.
Since this is a long-term project, I’m mainly looking for an artist who is genuinely interested in the idea and wants to help shape the visual identity of the game alongside the rest of the team. You don’t need a massive professional portfolio or years of industry experience—I care much more about your artistic ability, creativity, willingness to collaborate, and excitement about building something ambitious together.
The game is currently in the design phase. The core concept, gameplay loop, setting, and overall direction are already established, while some individual systems and details are still being designed and refined.
I can share much more about the project, the gameplay, the team structure, and how the revenue-share arrangement works if you’re interested. :)
