Hi, thanks for letting me know. That's fair: Portolan was published before the jam started, so I understand the decision and have no objections. Thanks for the clear explanation :0)

The leaderboards are live now, on LootLocker as you suggested: every run ends in a score, DAILY RACE gives everyone one race on the same track each day, and LEADERBOARD on the title shows all time and today's daily. And what you asked for first is in 0.4.2: there are walls right across the road now that cost a few percent of your speed and pay a third of the boost meter, so going through is the fast way. Thanks again for the push :0)
Thank you, glad the crashing landed! You're right about the maps, so 0.4.2 is all about them: every road now comes from outlines drawn after real circuits, a run of six stages never has the same one twice, and every land has its own houses and trees and its own things to smash, right on the road :0)
Thank you for playing, and for saying straight out what didn't work! You were right about the audio: I measured a race and it was far too loud and clipping, nearly all of it a low engine drone. 0.4.2 brings it down to a normal level with nothing clipping, and SOUND EFFECTS in OPTIONS now turns the engine down too. If it still grates, which part: the music, the engine, or the crunches and dings? The maps too: there are walls right across the road now, runs of things down the middle, towers and gates that come down, and far more tracks, no two alike :0)
Thank you, rontoss! A cozy MudRunner from the PS1 era is just the feeling I was after, and I'm glad the paper map and the twilight snow work for you. One small confession: there's no music in the game, only the diesel, the tyres and the winch, so the truck takes a bow for that one :0) If you've only seen the first valley, the money you earn opens four more, and the garage at the depot (Tab on the job board) has a 6x6, a tractor and a semi truck waiting.
Thanks, Philip, glad the truck and the 4x4 feel right! Everything you asked for has shipped since you played. 0.2.2 brought the controls as a three-line hint in the top right corner (F1 steps to every key, then to nothing), and the sound: the diesel climbs through its gears and growls when it can't move, the tyres crunch snow and squelch mud. It also brought the maps: four new valleys, from an autumn steppe to a Carpathian pass at night in a blizzard, opened with the money you earn. And the challenges: a job board at the depot (E) with races against the clock, fragile and heavy loads and a car to winch out of a ditch. Now 0.3.0 adds a garage (Tab on the board) with a 6x6, a tractor and a semi truck, and trailers to hitch with C. Hope you come back for another drive :0)
Thanks for playing, and for writing this up. You didn't miss anything: the hints are wrong. They say to click the chart, but the chart only takes marks once the pencil is out, and the pencil is tucked away in a closed panel.
To lay a course:
1. Open the Helm tab (the ship's wheel, second icon at the top right).
2. Under "Passage plan", click "✎ lay a track". This opens the chart if you aren't on it already.
3. Click once on open water for each mark. Dragging on open water always pans; dragging only moves a mark you've already laid.
4. At sea, click "follow the track" (or press R) and she'll sail it.
M only picks up a mark that's already on the chart, so it can't start a course.
I'll fix the hints so nobody else gets stuck here. Glad the direction works for a Sailwind player, and I'd love to hear how the voyage goes once under way.
Thanks for such a thorough playtest, Smokey! You were right about the stuck throttle, and your fix is in: 0.1.1 is out, and the game now lets go of every key the moment it loses the keyboard, so a W released outside the frame no longer leaves the truck pulling in the snow. Glad the depot run and the winch feel right :0)
Thanks for such a thorough playtest, numbers and cause included! You were right: a key let go outside the game's frame never reached the game, so the car stayed on full throttle. The game now lets go of every key when it loses the keyboard, as you suggested, and the fix goes out in the next update (0.3.3). The camera ending up inside the car after a crash is noted too. And yes, the pack does not wait for anyone at GO :0)
Thanks a lot for playing, and for such clear feedback: it went straight into the next update.
Destruction also pays now:
Everything you smash fills a boost meter (Shift, or A on a gamepad).
Also, in 0.2.0 adds local split-screen for two players (press F2), on one keyboard or with a gamepad each. Online play is a much bigger job; it’s on the list, but I can’t promise it yet.
Thanks again! If you give 0.2.0 a go, I’d love to hear whether the shortcuts feel worth taking.
Thank you :0) https://23game4exo.itch.io/connecting-the-dots very interested too. I like the dynamic of gameplay and art styles
