Under version 1.4 I've reached 372 points, but not quite the 376 points I set under version 1.3.
I like the 1.4 start; the clusters mean that from the very beginning, a skilled player can move into the middle of a cluster and raise their multiplier, just as long as we don't wait their too long.
But in 1.3 it usually felt like I crashed because I took too many chances; in 1.4, the screen eventually fills with so many rocks that I'm not sure it's possible to get underneath an unsurveyed asteroid before it crashes.
It also sometimes feels like some clusters stay too close to the left or right edge, so their outermost asteroid takes too long to enter the playing field.
It's your game, and it's very good under current rules, but I'm curious what effect these changes might have, if you feel like experimenting:
- Make surveyed asteroids gradually shrink until they disappear. This would some space for reaching the others. It would also mean they stopped raising the multiplier, so the unsurveyed asteroids raise the multiplier more.
- Have the thruster gradually overheat with overuse (and reduce the number of asteroids). Possibly also reduce multiplier loss when not thrusting. Moving around in short bursts feels most elegant, but eventually play gets so frantic that I'm just burning continuously.
- Reduce the asteroid count but make velocity variation within a cluster a bit higher.
