I'm really thankful that people like my game, however it is dead. A few years ago I tried improving it but messed it up too much and don't have a backup of the project files from the state of the latest release. That means I would effectively have to redo the game from scratch.

But fear not, there is a new game coming out on Steam that seems quite similar: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4876650/Never_Sort_By_Color/

Sorry to hear that. Something like this never happened to me. It sounds to me like the save files/settings are corrupt.

You could try to reset these files by deleting or renaming the "TheBricksperience" folder in "c:\users\[your username]\AppData\Local\". The "AppData" folder is hidden by default.

I have a Pico 4 so I can't test it but from what I see in the trailer, it looks great! Especially with hand tracking. I hope you'll continue to work on it. Thank you for putting me in the credits.

I'm not working on it right now. I tried but the project is a mess and would need to be restarted from scratch and that requires more motivation than I can offer. Even if I did that, I would need to begin with the non-VR version so it would take even longer. I'd love to have the features you named too but they would require so much more work and offer only a relatively tiny reward.

Hi! Thank you for showing interest in this old project of mine. Unfortunately there's no way for anyone but me to add brick models. You can only request them in this thread, but as you know, I'm not working on it anymore. However, I'm on the verge of quitting my job, so maybe I will have time soon.

Don't count on it. I'm going through so much in my life right now that I don't have any time for game development. If I decided to continue it, I would restart from scratch. I learned a lot since I made the current version and have new, powerful features at hand (like mod hosting, ray-tracing or async functions to eliminate the stutter when doing complex calculations).

That should be impossible. There is always something you can add. You could check out the model in the editor or buy the "List Needed Bricks" upgrade to see what bricks are needed.

I haven't forgotten about your requests but I don't think there will be updates anytime soon.

Since I am a perfectionist, I always notice aspects that could be improved. I tried to rework some features and messed up the project. If I find the time to work on it I will most likely start again from scratch.

I hope you can understand. Thank you for playing my game!

I checked again how I mapped the keys. As far as I can see have the Vive controllers four buttons on the touchpad. I mapped menu interaction to the top one. Reset position is clicking the pad.

How would you, as a Vive owner, map the keys? These actions need to be mapped to each controller: grabbing, pushing, menu interaction, reset tracking, reset bricks.

The editor doesn't support sub-models. Maybe it contains some. You can open the file in Stud.io, click on a sub model and click the "release"-button at the bottom of the screen. Then save it as an ldr file.

Thank you for reporting this! Does the just published version fix this issue if you run SteamVR before starting The BricksoerienceVR?

V1.1.14

Additional features:

• Added a filter box which only collides with bricks of a color you selected on it's menu

New content:

• Added content to match The Bricksperience V 2.2.5

I added both the bricks and a blacklist feature in V2.2.5. The blacklist.txt is created in the savegame folder once you visit the set selection menu for the first time.

V2.2.5

• Added blacklist.txt file to save game folder to hide sets from set selection menu

Additional content:

• Added 109 new bricks

V1.1.13

New content:

• Added content to match The Bricksperience V 2.2.4

Added in V2.2.4.

V2.2.4

Additional content:

• Added 88 new bricks

Those are all minifig parts, right? I decided not to import any minifigs into the game because there are too many print variations and many (or most) of them are only used in a handful of sets. They waste too much space. When they are universally used within the set (like a bike helmet sitting in the window of a bike shop) I consider adding them.

V1.1.12

New content:

• Added content to match The Bricksperience V 2.2.3

Added in V2.2.3.

V2.2.3

Additional content:

• Added 164 new bricks

Changes:

• Reduced file size of brick icons by 75%

If your set is big, then yes, it will take a while. It cannot be done automatically but it can be accelerated by using the provided features:

• Press E or press the "Next brick" button (bottom left corner) to automatically select the next brick which has no dependencies
• Use the 1 and 2 keys to toggle between the "Select" and "Dependency" mode
• Toggle on "Smart Cull" (top right corner) to only display the bricks around the selected brick
• Toggle on "Orbit Mode" (top right corner) to rotate the camera around the selected brick

Once you get used to this workflow, it can be done in half the time. Better start with some small sets.

Sorry, I don't like to chat. Have you seen this tutorial video?

You add dependencies by selecting a brick, clicking on the "Dependency"-button and clicking on the bricks the selected brick depends on.

You either have forgotten to set dependencies on some bricks or you have a loop somewhere (example: A needs B, B needs C, C needs A). The test should build as far as it can, which means there needs to be a problem with the bricks which are hidden once it fails. If you cannot find it, you can send me the save file, if you like to.
