Yes, all feedback is carefully taken in consideration. I'll be testing variations in the next update.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback. It will be put to good use!

Appreciate your feedback, thank you!

We've just made the demo of Dania — First Encounter public, and before this only friends and family had played it, so we don't yet know how it lands with someone who owes us nothing.

https://dasotauniverse.itch.io/dania-first-encounter (browser or Windows, about 30 to 45 minutes; a few minutes is useful too)

What we'd most like to hear:

  1. The first five minutes. There's an opening film and character creation before you move. Too long? Did you skip it?
  2. Teaching. A sergeant explains the controls over the PA as you go. Did you ever not know what to do?
  3. Feel. Running, jumping, the baton, the dash. Anything stiff or floaty?
  4. The three bosses. Each volley has one right answer. Fair, or a guessing game?
  5. The page itself. Would you have clicked on it?

Blunt is fine. We'll answer here and say what we changed.

Hello! We've just put up the demo of Dania — First Encounter, a 2D Metroidvania action-platformer with the stats, loot and skill trees of an action RPG, set aboard a colony ship the size of a city.

The demo is graduation day at the Training Center: you make your cadet, choose the family that raised you, and take three exams with a robot boss at the end of each. Every attack has an answer (jump the low volley, duck the high one, dash through the wall), so the bosses test what you've learned and not how fast you can press a button. It runs about 30 to 45 minutes, with a keyboard or a gamepad.

Play it here, in the browser or as a download: https://dasotauniverse.itch.io/dania-first-encounter

It's in development, so anything you tell us changes what we fix first: there's a feedback button in the game, and the page's comments are open.
