Hey! I’m also working on an indie game and trying to figure out how to get more views on itch.io.

From what I’ve seen, having a good game page is important, but getting people to the page from outside itch.io seems to make a much bigger difference. I’m currently experimenting with gameplay clips, development posts, and sharing my game on different platforms.

I think the most important things are a strong thumbnail, clear screenshots, a gameplay video, and making it obvious within a few seconds what makes your game interesting.

I’m still testing what works myself, so I’d also be interested to hear what other developers have found successful.

Good luck with your game!

Hey, I’m also trying to figure this out, but from what I’ve seen, simply publishing a game on itch.io usually isn’t enough to get consistent views.

I think the biggest thing is bringing people from outside itch.io. Posting gameplay clips, development updates, and interesting moments on places like YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Reddit, and LinkedIn can help bring people to your game page.

I’d also recommend having a good cover image, clear screenshots, a short gameplay video, and a description that quickly explains what makes your game interesting.

For me, I’m currently experimenting with different types of gameplay posts and trying to see which ones actually bring people to my game page. It seems like consistency and testing different approaches matter more than making one big promotional post.

I’d also be interested to hear what has worked for other developers here.
